In short: Simulating, challenging, friendly, rewarding
In full: My first real cross-country race - and I loved the friendliness and encouragement I had from other runners on a hot and challenging course. Full marks to organisers for a mostly shady run, it was only the last mile on hot road that made me really suffer. Scenery and variety to die for.

In short: Energy sapping in the heat!
In full: This is a great event to test yourself with. I was forewarned about the steps so no big surprise. I was however surprised by the stream - luckily if you hit it right you don't get too wet at this early stage of the race. It is a pity it was so hot. I'm not sure I would have made it without the majority of the race having tree cover and my trusty water bottle. I had to walk a lot of the hills but don't think I lost too much time there. Great organisation and marshalling all around the trail.

In short: A challenge (especially in the heat!)
In full: A well organized event with some energy sapping hills here, there and everywhere. The hottest day of the year made it just that little bit harder. All in all, a tough but enjoyable day out running!!

In short: How did the organisers find a route nearly all in the shade!
In full: Great event, even though I fell over at the 10k mark. Thank-you marhalls for the 5 drinking stations, all needed. Can we have a few jelly babies next year? Fab scenery, well marked and most enjoyable.

In short: Harder than anticipated - hills and heat
In full: I entered this kind of at the last minute and didn't have too high expectations. However, what I found was a race with great organisation and atmosphere and in a lovely location, ideal for my wife and two year old to play whilst waiting for me, somewhat longer than anticipated, to return. that's the Milland cricket pavilion I'm referring to by the way. Course was tougher than expected - no mile markers, narrow tracks and plenty of hills made it tough for me to keep track of my pace and in the subsequent second half I slowed badly. There didn't seem to be many flat sections at all although that may just have been my impression as I suffered a little! The heat probably didn't help but at least the water stations were welcome. Nothing to complain about really. There was a queue at the steps but all races I've done with steps have queues, especially in the first few miles. Looking forward to competing again next year, forewarned and forearmed & hoping to beat my 1-53 of this year. Finally, thanks to all of the organisers and helpers for making it a very enjoyable day.

In short: A hard race but very enjoyable
In full: A hard race with more steep hills than I knew existed in this area. Well organised and marshalled, beautiful location, friendly atmosphere - even if I was feeling particularly negative I couldn't find anything to complain about. Already looking forward to next year.
