In short: Starting wave allocation seemed arbitrary but good atmosphere made up for it

In short: A beautiful day but the organisation needed warming up a bit.
In full: There didn't seem to be as many people there as expected and the first 5K uphill meant I ran most of the race with agonising stitch. Better preparation on my part and it would be easy to knock the time down. reminder already set for next year.

In short: My first ever event and it's made me want more!
In full: I don't know why I was shocked to find the route hilly as it is set in Sheffield but I was and so wasn't prepared for almost the first half being on a slight incline (didn't feel slight in some places lol) the support was quite thin on the ground but the people who were there supporting were wonderful, I did feel encouraged by them all the way around, the last couple of 100m were nasty for me as they were uphill too, not a nice surprise! I have registered to be reminded to do it again next year as it was a really good day out and I havn't taken my t-shirt off yet...nope, not even for bed time!!!

In short: £22 is steep for a 10K but it is part of the 'great run' series and the event on a whole is worth it.
In full: steep price for a 10K but on the day the organisation is fantastic. Course itself felt uphill for the first 5km with a loop back to the finish over the same route. Last 800m was uphill which put an end to a sprint finish. All in all I'll be doing this again next year.

In short: Good to do a big race, well organised - lacked atmosphere
In full: First massed event, started worked excellently, got a year PB and for Sheffield relatively flat course but found last 400m challenging. Good to see the top athletes inaction. Plenty of toilets at start, not a great deal of atmosphere on the course.
Good to do one large event a year but expensive compared to club events.

Thought the Kids race at the original price £12.00 was poor value, which was reduced by 50%, lack of interest maybe? Goody bags for them were terrible, especially since his father does not drink tea! Some fruit or even small packet of sweets would have been more appropriate.

In short: Very good race but a pricey 10k
In full: Fantastic though that you were very close to the elite runners and you could see them warming up etc at the start and flying down Abbeydale Road on their way down. Course was a bit dull and I am sure they could have picked a more scenic route to do the city justice.Supported it as home city and would do it again for that reason.

Goody bags for kids terrible, a packet of tea and a small box of shreddies!!!!! Come on Tesco not what an 8 year old boy was expecting!!

In short: Pricey and conjested, but overall pretty enjoyable.
In full: Great idea having waves, however as I did not have an 'official' best time for a 10k, I had to start near the back so any ambition of me acheiving my expected sub 40 minutes went out the window when I ran into the conjestion of the previous wave at the 1km point. My recommendations for next year would be to reduce the cost from £22 and make purchase of the tshirt optional, make the route wider and more scenic by going up Eccleshall Road instead of Abbeydale, and take expected time into consideration aswell as past times.

In short: Well organised event but course could do with improvement.
In full: As you would expect of a 'Great Run' event this was a very well organised race, particularly the wave start which I thought worked really well.

The course itself was probably about as flat as you could get in Sheffield but wasn't particularly scenic or interesting. It would have been much better to have more of the route in the city centre and using Ecclesall Road as opposed to Abbeydale Road.

I thought the level of support along the route as good considering that the event had not had much publicity in the local press so many people didn't know anything about it. Also as so many roads had to be closed for the race it made it difficult for people to get to a convenient place to watch.

I particularly like the bands along the route and the big screen at 5K was good. Great t-shirt and medal and as I managed a PB I would certainly do this race again.

In short: Extremely well organised rice ideal for a beginner
In full: Missed out on a PB but the organisation was excellent but then you would expect it to be for £22.00.
Ideal for all runners due to the volume of people but thought there might be a few more spectators.
