In short: Superb event, great crowd In full: First "crack" at this event and would definitely do it again, with a costume this time. Great location and challenging course, downhill start was spectacular. Thanks to all marshalls and helpers, you can't run these events without them. Prefer mass start but understand some people's gripes with it, you can't please everyone unfortunately. Originally found the entry fee a bit steep, but the goodies, food at the end, charity donation and memories of a slightly surreal first day of the year amply made up for it. In short: Not to be missed!! In full: This was year 6 for me but the first with a stupid stupid stupid alteration to the start......damn you Dr Rob for the extra hill! Totally unnecessary and painful! Gutted to hear that locals had been complaining or sabotarging race signs......cant see why locals would be against a glorious race on public land?!? Perhaps they should try and join in rather than try and scupper a good dose of healthy New Year fun.....
Superb costumes as always and a great atmosphere. I love it and will do it forevermore!!
PS The mug was ace- my daughter delights in its colour changing ability!! Date of review: January 2, 2011

In short: Excellent fun. Tough but fun. In full: I really enjoyed this and wanted to do it ever since I heard about it 2009 but missed out on entry in 2010. Atmosphere is superb. Am not a fast runner but was not troubled by the mass start - this is what I usually experience so have no wave start to compare it to. Shame about running out of mementoes - I did not miss out - but it must have been v disappointing for those who did. I gather this is far from typical of Dr Rob and that he will be remedying the situation pronto. Some really nice free photos on the Trionium website which is most unlike other races, and looking forward to seeing the results up online later. Glad I wore silly/fancy dress - you really should even if you are a serious runner, it makes the atmosphere super-special and the second-placed male runner finished in full Spartan regalia including sword and helmet. I really want to do it again in 2012, now that my rose-tinted spectacles are repaired, and those that came to support me are convinced they will make it their first time next year. Oh and the fact that it was such a nutty race was, I am sure, a factor in folks sponsoring £2k for kids' cancer charity Ali's Dream. Yay! Bring on 2012! Date of review: January 2, 2011

In short: Perfect In full: Great weather again for one of my fav races. The new start was really good as it gave spectators the chance to see the whole field in all its crazy glory. I might have to vent my Spartan helmet for next year though as I reckon I lost a couple of Ks in head sweat alone. Class free photos too. Date of review: January 2, 2011
