In short: Blinder
In full: Horrible, horrible, horrible, wheeeeeeeeeeee, horrible (the wheee is the downhill bit).

Fantastic bout of sado-masochism, as you would expect from Dr Rob. The last hill was pure evil and at one point I thought I might actually surrender to gravity and fall straight back down it. Marshalls were great. People complain about how much these races cost but the goody bag and stupid grin you'll have on your face for days afterwards make them a bargain in my book.

In short: Such a great crowd - such a great race
In full: What a fantastic event this is every year - the athletes and the marshalls are so friendly and fun - it makes the run itself so much easier knowing you got plenty of support from start to finish ..now all together ...."god save our gracious queen ..!!"

In short: Glorious, eccentric, astoundingly beautiful scenery, very friendly, great goody bag!
In full: This race is an absolute delight. Perfect if you're having trouble with your negative splits and the hill at 12 miles is exceptionally useful to try and determine what your MHR really is! Will be back next year.

In short: A must-do-half!
In full: Excellent organisation & atmosphere and a really picturesque, challenging course. A must do annual event for those with summer marathon plans. Pity it fell on the same day as Steyning. It would be great if that could possibly be avoided next year.

In short: Ow
In full: My first half-marathon, and a great experience. The course is a tough and hilly out and back, with a steep and unwelcome flight of stairs about at about mile 12, but the last 1/2 mile is a lovely sweeping downhill. Just as well, as I fear I may not have made it to the finish otherwise.

Marshalls and spectators were all very encouraging, food stations had a generous selection of Jelly Babies, Jaffa Cakes and Mars Bars, and you get a splendid technical t-shirt with your name on, a classy trophy and a big bling medal. Brilliant. Oh, and a carrot. You also get the National Anthem to start you off, just like a proper athlete.

Not without its hazards - I did fall over on one of the downhill runs and lose a bit of skin, and I was chased up the steep climb to the tower by an over-enthusiastic and slightly out of control horse, but it certainly made me run faster.

The one surprising thing for me was the large number of people who entered and then didn't turn up and run. This is a great race and it fills up very quickly - please don't take up a place if you're not prepared to run up the hill on the day!
