In short: the ice cold weather as the final nail in the day oh for a hot drink.
In full: A great event as I cruised along for 8 miles or so in some nice friendly company thinking the grizzly is much harder than this. Then the brutal truth set in bog after bog 3 feet deep full of branches and the ocasional shark. The steep climbs turned into a impassible mud slide by the 400 runners. Must do it again just to check out how deep the mud really was. I am still getting it out of all sorts of places. I am sure Anne and Heather are up for it but we will try the Spring when its not so cold. I hope.

In short: mudfest
In full: What a bunch of loonies we are! This was a great race - challenging, well-organised and exciting. First time for me lunging through the mud and I really enjoyed it. Okay, so I couldn't move my fingers enough to turn the key and get into my car, but who cares? I really felt like I'd DONE something. Brilliant motivational rock for the X-zone was a bonus too

In short: Good course, especially the Turbo X zone - will definitely come back for another go.
In full: No Catering !!!! IT was VERY cold and catering had been promised in all the advertising. However, it never turned up. Also the marshalling was very poor in places. This race has the potential to be superb and so should not be let down by silly details like being able to get a hot drink at the end of a long hard race on a bitterly cold day.

In short: As I said to my other half from the pub by text.....OH MY GOD!!!!
In full: What a brilliant race..Only my 2nd xc race proper, but this was PROPER!!! It was freezing cold, wet, smelly, muddy to the extreme...but me and the 2pals I dragged along absolutely loved it; to quote my mate jim "it was the donkey's doodahs" Now, two things-
1.did some of you actually invest the time to get an idea of what to expect?? Yes, the bogs were deeper, smellier and tougher than expected, but that was the point of me doing this thing, it made it better than I was hoping for!
2.If the contents of the goodie bag were not published, no-one, i'm sure, would complain at receiving a Tee, drink, snack, energy samples and shoe bag for the entry fee..remember this is ON TOP of having the venue and event organised for you...
I personally really missed the chance of munching a bacon butty with a hot coffee, but as the event was a bargain we headed straight for a pub for pie, chips and a pint...Top day, great camaraderie ;-)

In short: Cold, Wet, Muddy, Smelly = Great Sunday morning fun.
In full: Great race, but what is it with people moaning about a pair of socks. Christmas is comming up you'll be inundated with bloody socks!

In short: Definitely not for wimps!!
In full: Last in the series and, in my view, by far the hardest. Despite the snow, rain, sleet, wind and mud I still had a great time and would do it all again. Many thanks to all the lovely cheerful marshalls who must have been frozen - and especially the one in the bog!! I was really disappointed with the lack of t-shirts though. As a size 10 woman the Large mens I was given will be going straight in the charity bin - its too big even for a nightshirt. Shame because it was great at the other two Turbos to get something that actually fits and now they spoiled their reputation with the last race.

In short: Good fun
In full: Having to concentrate on where you are going takes your mind of the pain of running, so generally I prefer xc running to roads. Really enjoyed this, would still have been good without the turbo zone. As I have hashed through these bogs, I was aware of what to expect. From a safety point of view, more marshals to help in emergency on the bogs would be a good idea, it was fine where there was a group going through together, but anybody on there own would be in danger. I could cope without the food van, but I do feel that we are owed a pair of socks, particularly as the entry fee is very high.

In short: At 7.30 am on Sunday, this didn't look like a very good idea....
In full: Despite the overnight snow, horizontal sleet and freezing temperatures, this was actually a great way to spend a Sunday morning. First half of the race doesn't really prepare you for the Turbo X zone - waist deep mud, climbing hills on your hands and knees etc - but great fun and camaraderie. Like others, disappointed that there were no small Ts and no sign of socks in the goody bag.
