In full: Very like the Salomon Turbo X race at nearby Bordon. Hard work and a good all round work out but so much more interesting than 'normal' races. Very well organised throughout - well done and thanks to organisers and helpers for a memorable experience. My only 'suggestion for the future' - how about a 'teccie' T shirt next time? (The cotton ones just gather unworn in a cupboard). Date of review: November 16, 2009

In short: MUD, MUD and more MUD In full: A fantastic race. No pressure for time, we dress up every year and have a laugh. This is what running is about not obssessing over PB times. Much better organisation this year as I actually got a goody bag which they had run out of last year. The bog of doom was even colder than last year but the lake seemed more shallow. Excellent marshalls and it was nice of the organisers to delay the start of the second race while 20 or so nuns were making it to the finish! Date of review: November 16, 2009

In short: Wet and smelly In full: Loved every moment of it and it's the only race I've ever done smiling all the way round hoping that there were more miles to come. It's possibly one to avoid if you don't have a power shower although standing in a car wash may do the trick. Date of review: November 16, 2009

In short: Brilliant muddy fun, expect to be up to your ears in muck but excellent goody bag for your reward! Date of review: November 16, 2009

In short: Bogs, hills and nuns. What else do you need? In full: Another storming bog-tastic run! Love the pit of doom, love the hills of hell! Fewer fancy dressed crazies this year - what scared them off?? Great to have the afternoon race for those who didn't get into the morning event (and a more civilised starting time for those of us who live over an hour away!). Marshalling much improved on last year and a goodie bag worth getting muddy for. Great support from the military juniors - good on 'em! Date of review: November 16, 2009

In full: Second time at Hellrunner. Great stuff. First time they have introduced first wave/second wave - I think for the more elite to go off without bunching up. I opted for second wave but would go first wave next year. There was no real control over who went where. No gap in first wave going off. I ended up at pretty much at the back and had to fight my way forward. I was under the impression there would be a gap and I was going to go near the front of second wave - not so. Still a brilliant race and I enjoyed it yet again. Date of review: November 16, 2009

In short: Bloody brilliant, prepared to get mucky and invest in some off road trainers to get the most out of it In full: Wasn't sure if I'd survive this one, but it was great fun, no boring bits, needs your full concentration and a good sense of humour. Particularly enjoyed the obscure scene of a brass band at the mid way water station in the middle of nowhere amongst all the muck and grime. Take a friend along to get the full experience. Loved it. Ache a bit now though! Date of review: November 16, 2009

In short: How to justify new running gear In full: Just do this run! Clothes stink, trainers stink, shorts stink . . but big, BIG smiles.
You get a fabulous, well organised, enjoyable run through some really great woods and trails, with a real team spirited crowd and you can justify buying new running gear the week after. What more could you want?
BTW did anyone notice how the organisers got 2 days of heavy rain leading up to the event to provide the water and mud, a small shower just before the start to give it a bit of extra slip but then dry bright weather whilst we ran? Master stroke.
PS, having gone down the steep bank into the lake, waded waste high across and then scrambled up the other side I was surprised to hear a marshal say, "mind out there's a puddle at the top". On that note, everyone has focused on the mud / water, but Marshals, even those stuck out on traffic duty, were excellent.
Definitely up for this one next. Date of review: November 16, 2009
