In short: Don't people in the East Midlands have curious accents?
In full: Enjoyed it. Some organisational difficulties... but nothing a bit if of individual enterprise couldn't overcome. The "through the wood" bit would have been interesting had there been heavy rain in the drun up to the race! And 26 kilonetres is further than I thouhgt. Where on Earth can i find another 10 miles etween now and London?!

In short: Not a bad first go, but realy just a 16 miler.
In full: The course was well marked, well marshalled, and the drinks stations were really well organised and stocked. The choice of water or (very sugary) energy drinks was good.

Seemed a very long wait in pens before the race. My bladder was ok but can understand why people are bit miffed.

The course felt uphill (though analysis says not massively) and into the prevailing wind it wasnt the quickest 16 miler.

I also didnt like the strange little loop around some cones just before Elvaston park but that's being picky.

Will I be back? Long way to travel for me, if I get into London next year then it'd be Kingston Breakfast run instead.

In full: I think a lot of people were thinking (and hoping) that this concept would fall flat on its face - WELL IT DIDN'T !!!

The starting pen system went like clockwork - the course was easy - and the atmosphere, although not like the LM - what is ? - was cheerful.
The course was a good mixture of town and country and I would like to say a big thankyou to all the marshals and drink station people along the course
It could have started a bit later but the organisers would have had to take in the locals , police and council's views regarding road closures.
The icing on the cake was when I received my time by text 45 mins. after I had finished

I'll try to be back next year to try to beat my 2.25

In short: Great idea, just a few organisational niggles. Boring in the middle
In full: Generally good, and no malice intended when I say it could have been better organised. The route was great, the buses to/from the start/finish excellent and the marshalling excellent. An almighty screw up meant two faster "pens" left behind mine so loads of pushing and overtaking in the first few miles although it didn't really affect me personally. The cost was steep though the t-shirt and medal very good quality. It's a race that could do VERY well - even increase to 10 or 15,000 runners if they can get it right (and use both sides of the road). A guaranteed PB for a first-distance but I also beat a 12 year old PB for 15 miles!

In short: Flat, well organised, interesting distance, glad I did it.
In full: Overall a very well organised race which I would do again as it's a challenging but also manageable distance. Especially impressed with the stewards and the folk helping at the water stations.

Finish was a bit of an anti climax - you seemed to turn the corner and suddenly you were done but that (and the long wait in the pens at the start) aside I thought it was a great debut.

In short: A great debut
In full: Excellent road closures, flatish course with only mild undulations, good (albeit low volume) support, well marhsalled, quality long sleeved t-shirt (that wasn't adorned with sponsors names like usual t-shirts) and chunky medal.

Having to be in pens 30 minutes before the start was a bit much for an event of only approx 4000 runners. There seemed to be some issues with the number of toilets although I didn't really have any issues.

Overall, very impressed and hope it returns next year.

In short: Overall enjoyed the race but the course was dull except for the part through Elvaston park which i thought was greatt.
In full: As a good training run i thought the race was ideal but as a stand alone event it lacked a certain buzz and seemed to be missing the fun element of great races.
The course was flat and the closed roads were well marshalled and i always felt safe out there. The pre race as already stated elsewhere was too drawn out and un-necessary and i also thought the finish lacked atmosphere.
But when all is said and done, yes i'd do it again.

In short: New distance, new experience
In full: I enjoyed this, the organisation seems to run well. Feared it may not being a new race and all but it went well.

I was expecting some larger crowds, seeing as it was a big field. Maybe some advertising could have been done.

The race itself was good, nice route and a distance that pushes you well.

Loved the post race text message with your result.

In short: Nothing too special but would do it again
In full: Overall, I liked the race and would do it again. My experience was that it was well organised and things went smoothly. The marshalls did a good job, I got the same bag back that I checked in (that's always good) and the goody bag was reasonable. Serious bling medal which is always good!

Two points regarding bodily functions:

- I think there will always be a tension between renting enough toilets and allowing everyone to go in the last 30 mins before a race (well, the last hour if you count the time in pens...). Difficult one for the organisers and it always seems to be a problem.

- what on earth did people think they were doing when urinating against the flats when waiting for the start? I cannot believe that anyone capable of entering a race would be stupid enough to pee up someone's house! I couldn't care less whether or not they needed to go - they shouldn't do it there. I'd have applauded if the police gave out notices.

I'd say that the event was pretty lacking in atmosphere at the start but people were pretty friendly on the way around. Scenery was OK - a bit towards the dull side but I've had worse.

In short: A splendid Race
In full: A wee bit early, can only improve with time once a few things were and are ironed out.

Need more toilets at the start, found the male open air toilets funny, but wasnt that brave.

More stuff to do in the park for the families with kids waiting round would be good,

otherwise a warm glow inside, even though a few muscles needing rest.
