In short: Trying hard and improving, but doesn't warrant £39 entry fee In full: I probably wouldn't have run Edinburgh if I lived further away but the route is a decent mix and probably as flat as it could be in Edinburgh. The organisers seem to have pretensions beyond what the race deserves at the moment. Date of review: August 26, 2005

In short: This was my first marathon and was really looking forward to it and it was a good run. In full: I have some doubts as to the facilities and the quality of the "expo". There was very little there to see. I had forgotten my gels and there was on even any sports type shops there where you could pick up anything that you may have forgotten. The run was enjoyable though and many thanks to the sprinklers across the road at the 24 mile mark!!! They really could have used more drinks stations, Running along the coast exposed to the sun and rapidly dehydrating they couldn't come fast enough for me. Date of review: July 13, 2005

In short: over priced and over hyped. my first marathon and i really enjoyed the run but can't help thinking that the event could have been so much better. no slight on the volunteeers who were cheerful and committed. In full: Enjoyed my first marathon but felt a bit let down by the event organisers.
I counted 11 toilets at the start and barely saw one on the way round. Felt really sorry for people caught short (esp. ladies).
The whole event was overhyped in my view. The expo was small and of negligible interest. I thought the starting line up was going to be around 10,000 - perhaps just as well that it wasn't as getting to the right time-band at the start was somewhat difficult/impossible.
Edinburgh is a beautiful city but from mile 3 ish onward we seemed to be running down through streets and pathways, hemmed in a bit with no view or interesting features. The waterfront however was nice once we had got to it. I would just like to have seen a bit more of the bweautiful city.
A big thanks to the people who set up the water sprinklers outside their houses at around mile 24. Much appreciated. Water stops well manned byut a little too infrequent for me. Only saw one vaseline stop but thakfully it came at the right time!
Nice medal and t-shirt but £39..... come one, you can rent a lot of portaloos with that type of entry fee.
Having had that rant, a big thanks to all the volunteers who manned the event. You did great, I just think that the organisers need to beef things up for next year. Date of review: July 8, 2005

In short: Great event, good friendly atmosphere. Enjoyed it. In full: My first marathon so a PB! Did the relay last year but if anything, enjoyed this more. Great course in the main with good local spectator support. Drinks stations and marshaling all excellent. The split start between full/relay runners seemed to work very well and the hill at the end wasn't as bad as I feared. Points about toilets at beginning, cramped finish/exit, no seats in changing areas etc will hopefully be addressed for next year. In all, a great event, try it! Date of review: June 29, 2005

In short: Great experience, course very nice In full: Organization was slightly chaotic. Race started and people were still queuing at the baggage tent! Not enough toilets. Apart from that people were very helpful and welcoming. Date of review: June 29, 2005

In short: Well organised, nice run, but where had all the toilets gone? In full: First full marathon and I thoroughly enjoyed the event.Pre-race organisation and the race itself was very good. My only criticism concerned the lack of toilets for runners and also the log-jam at the finish line as everyone tried to get their bags. There was just nowhere to properly warm down and compose yourself before collecting your kit. Date of review: June 24, 2005
