In short: Excellent for a first time marathon In full: Delay at start was a little unfortunate but didn't stop this race being excellent.
Coming out of the tunnel was fantastic as was the city centre and the finish. Looping Sefton Park became a bit of a challenge but overall this has the potential to become a huge race. Well done scousers. Date of review: October 25, 2011

In short: When you run to the drums in the tunnel - You'll be back. In full: Great event. As the first time running of the event it was brilliant. Crowds were found all along the route - even for us very slow runners. When I crossed the finish line I always thought I would think never again but have to admit I want to go back and do it again. The one line summary will mean a special something to everyone who ran the race this year and next year it could and should be you. Date of review: October 25, 2011

In short: Best race I've done for atmosphere. The people of L'pool should be proud In full: The day started with an unavoidable delay. If some complete idiots choose to ignore the road closures the organisers have to put safety first. This I feel did affect a lot of people in the latter stages of the race though. Once the race got going it was pretty much perfect. The wind was maybe a little strong but a lot better than forecast. The support on the Wirral was about normal for a marathon and then came the dullness of the tunnel. What followed was one of the best experiences of my life. The thrill that came as I came out of the tunnel to drummers and thousands of wellwishers was something that I highly recommend every runner experiences. It was tough running for the next nine mile, up a hill and then loops of parks but the home straight soon made you forget the pain. It was a lovely finish by the three graces and the volunteers handing out medals were first class. Goody bag was poor but hey you can't have everything. A real triumph for a first effort. Can't wait for next year. Date of review: October 25, 2011

In full: The 45 min delay at start and steep climb out of tunnel drained so much energy, it took the edge off what was otherwise a fabulous day. Date of review: October 25, 2011

In short: A good race - great atmosphere and support - crowd phenominal. The climb out of the tunnel up up to Sefton park was tough coming at mile 13 - lead to lots of cramp in lots of runners. A tougher course than expected but definately worth it. Date of review: October 21, 2011
