In short: I love this race just because it's close to home and the crowds are so friendly. In full: Shame the mile markers weren't in the right place and that no one knows where to starts so you end up passing loads of slow people. Would be nice to have time slots to at least help some of the slower runners know where to start. The waether today was perfect and I do enjoy the race perhaps because its one of my training runs. In short: A missed opportunity In full: Living in Leeds I was very excited about this race, and had a thoroughly good day. However since running other races since I look back on the Leeds HM as a missed opportunity. In my humble opinion, some key city sights are overlooked (Leeds Bridge, University/Hyde Park). I didn't enjoy the ring road, not because of the hills but the narrow paths and susequently muddy embankments. The suburban paths off the ring road as the race turns towards Kirstall just aren't suitable. The biggest negative for me though was running a tag team time trial race at the same time - resulting in corporate runners barging their way through at almost sprinting pace. That said, Millenium Square makes a great finish, as does passing Kirstall Abbey and Sheepscar offers a wide enough start to cater for the volume of runners. I love Leeds and we deserve a half marathon that lives up the standards of the city! Date of review: April 1, 2009

In short: Boring course, lacks support , not suprised the council don't promote it! running out of water at 11 miles is a scandal, no wonder people were collapsing! I too had to pick up discarded bottles, this should not happen! sponges good. Date of review: January 24, 2009

In short: Good support for this almost cancelled event. In full: It was great to see solidarity in the local running community who had united earlier this year to protest against Leeds council's plans to cancel this event. The protest was successful but the race had to be postponed from the usual May slot to early September. As a result I think there was a better than usual turn out of runners who wanted to be seen to support the event. This is a tough city half marathon with some meaty climbs in the first half of the course and does not offer the most scenic of routes, yet it always manages to attract runners with a healthy range of abilities. The corporate relay is also a nice touch that helps promote exercise in the work place. Thank you to Leeds council for listening people's complaints, the 2009 event has been moved back to May.
