In short: Always a pleasure In full: The Standalone is always an enjoyable race. The scenery is ok without being excellent (there is a bit along a by-pass which tends to let it down a bit) but that aside it is always a fun race. It seems to attract a wide variety of runners, from the very quick to the have-a-go people, and this makes for a pleasant atmosphere. It is well organised, and well marshalled.
The course is good, though it will never be the quickest race. There are a couple of hills, and bits of the race are along roads that have not been closed to traffic, so you do spend some time looking over your shoulder for cars before you overtake anyone. The finish is a fast downhill (and then into the farm) so it makes for an amusing last K. Date of review: October 2, 2006
In short: Another great 10k at Standalone In full: Really enjoyed this again - the 2nd time I've run it. Only bit I don't like is running along the bypass, but the great marshalling made it feel safe. Lovely atmosphere overall and animals for the kids to look at - what more could you ask for?
