In short: Stunning scenery and killer hills! My best race so far this year! In full: Absolutely loved this race. It was certainly challenging - with constant hills up and down and rocky, tree-root strewn tracks - but the scenery made up for that - such a beautiful route through the Surrey countryside. I particularly liked all the horses and sheep that came over to the fence to cheer us on! The marshalls were smiley and encouraging (and efficient) and the goody bag was great - a fantastic t-shirt, other bits and pieces and, of course, the Badger Beer (what a lovely touch!). I'll definitely be back next year... if my legs have recovered by then! Date of review: September 5, 2010
In short: Just as good as last year and (unbelievably) a PB! In full: As I've come to expect from Alan and team - a thoroughly well organised and fun (!) race. Hard to find fault and the bag of goodies at the end was worth the entry fee on it's own. Date of review: September 5, 2010
In short: Beautiful way to spend Sunday morning In full: I have not enjoyed a race so much in ages. It was certainly hilly, but a long long downhill to the finish and the scenery made it all worthwhile. It was a great atmosphere and a nice badger T-shirt at the finish. I'll be back Date of review: September 5, 2010
In short: Restored my faith in organized events! In full: Having participated in a very badly run half marathon the other week, this race restored my love for racing. Well organized, good marshalling and friendly atmosphere. Yes it's a bit tough but all these things keep you going. Plus you run alongside horses and cows (not Badgers). Hear it's getting bigger next year - hope they don't change it too much. Date of review: September 5, 2010
In short: A thoroughly well organized, mapped and marshaled race. Everyone was very friendly and welcoming. Singing the National Anthem at the start you know it was going to be different, and it didn't disappoint! Date of review: September 5, 2010
In short: ooooh that hurt!! In full: My first half marathon after pregnancy - maybe I should have chosen more wisely! It is a beautiful course in terms of scenary, but there is a lot and a lot and a lot more of up hill trail running. But some runners did really well - winner around 1 hour 15. I was well far back, but made it round and am still alive. Date of review: September 5, 2010
In short: Awesome. Challenging hills but great support. Well organised and very friendly. In full: Don't expect a PB but still great training. Thoroughly enjoyed it. Thanks guys, PS fab t shirt too. Date of review: September 5, 2010
In short: Must remember to read instructions about hills In full: Enjoyed it - would have liked some signs at the start to show people where toilets where (that said, there is a dirty great big leisure centre that I managed to miss!) Nice, challenging course with some good hills that I had not prepared for. Really great stewards at this race and a big thanks to all of them. Good bag at the end and a great way to spend Sunday morning Date of review: September 5, 2010
In short: Thank you for getting me to love running again In full: As the date of this race grew nearer I was feeling more and more daunted, in particular because I felt I hadn't done enough training and knew the course would be hilly - but I loved it. It seems ages since I've enjoyed a race and it was such a relief to feel joy in running again.
The marshalls were great, the hills manageable (apart from the one when I took an opportunity to have a quick chew - haven't yet got the knack of being able to get stuff out of my back pocket and eat, without walking yet) - and the one where I managed to trip over a tree root and fall flat on my face (fortunately no observers - just the dirt all over me being a bit of a give away).
I didn't do a fast time, but I was just so pleased to enjoy it.
In short: Can't quite put my finger on it, but that was my 50th race and the most enjoyable!!!!! In full: Great atmosphere, awesome marshals and absolute no brainers for all abilities - thankyou. Date of review: September 5, 2010
