In short: very muddy but great fun!!! In full: The first half was a lovely trail run, not too hard but a bit muddy and squashy, then you hit the tank tracks...lots of thigh deep freezing puddles, mud, sand. Other runners were very helpful in getting everyone through, a wonderful sense of togetherness. The turbo zone was mad, near vertical slippery slopes, crazy deep mud...what a way to spend a rainy sunday morning!!! Excellent fun, will be back. Date of review: November 24, 2008

In short: Apologies from the caterer. In full: As the caterers to this event we were looking forward to coming (my wife was meant to be running) and supplying you all with hot refreshments and food. We broke down on route and were unable to get a replacement van in time for the event, I can only appologise to you all and assure you that no blame lies with the organisers who had booked us weeks ahead and as far as they were concerned had all the catering organised. Once again our sincere apologies, Jeremy Stirling Westgate Catering Date of review: November 24, 2008

In short: I'm still grinning! In full: Fantastic! The first half of the race lulls you into a false sense of security and then it all gets dirty! Giant puddles of freezing water, slippy mud, sinking in smelly bogs and crawling on all fours up steep mudslides! I've never laughed this much in a race before - brilliant fun! Don't bother with a watch, you'll be too busy to worry about time! Date of review: November 24, 2008

In short: Get covered in mud and smell like a cow. In full: This, too, was my first trail race and I loved it. Strangely, the pain was not as bad as road races as you simply have too many other things to think about; staying upright and navigating the most shallow route through bogs. (I now realise this is total luck.) A new sensation was trying to see through your own steam following waist deep freezing water. Obviously the Turbo X zone is ironic, you can barely 'run' through any of it. Will be back for more. Date of review: November 24, 2008

In short: Well organised. Lots of mud. In full: Small points, but no small t-shirts for us ladies again and no socks as promised. Date of review: November 24, 2008

In short: A very, very, very muddy race. In full: Started off as a fairly 'normal' XC, than turned into a wade through numerous bogs! Smelly, mucky and fun in a slightly masochistic way. Not sure where the promised socks were, t-shirt ok but as usual no small sizes left (and I was nowhere near last). Date of review: November 24, 2008

In short: First time in an event like this and loved it. In full: Loved this race, I was not as well prepared as I wanted to be and struggled a few miles but loved the scenery and great fellow competitors. Yes the water was freezing, the bogs where deep and the turbo zone was lunatic. But that was what I came for. I will be back. Only downside....no food at the end and like others say where are my 1000 Mile socks. THe ones from yesterday went into the bin. Date of review: November 24, 2008

In short: The Swamp at the end was dangerous In full: A race that started promptly. It was a long route thorough woods, then a field. However, the swamp in the X - Zone was like quicksand. Also, was that sewage we were wading through just before the end of it ? I need to re-build my confidence because of getting sucked into the mud and panicking as no one could hear me or help me.
