In short: Virtually faultless In full: Would have dropped the virtually if the start had have been 10am prompt as promised - it was delayed 15 mins for latesters. Apart from that it was great - a reasonably tough course, good support considering the conditions, great organisation thanks to the Cadets & other volunteers and a decent medal. Also good that it wasn't just the top 3 that got special awards. Date of review: March 16, 2008
In short: Bloody hard going Tougher than expected In full: This was my first half and i prep myself really well before hand loads of 10 miles runs and thought i was ready for it and i was until the 9th mile and bang injury .Never mind i completed it but no PB. Look out next year. I Cant Wait. Bloody good event. This has to be one of my all time favourite's. Date of review: March 16, 2008
In short: Lovely downhills at the end In full: Cooling drizzle at the start, would have been seriously tough in the hot. Ups were steep enough to make me wonder/walk and the downs were very welcome. As a newbie to trail running i really enjoyed it. Date of review: March 16, 2008
In short: Heroes In full: Just a thought to night, passed a guy at 12.5 miles collasped being given CPR, after the emergency services arrived and the air ambulance I spoke to the St Johns lady to see if he was alright. She said that the runners on the scene and been spot on with their first aid. If your looking for the best performances this weekend, look know further to these guys!
In short: Fantastic experience. A real pleasure to be part of this race. In full: Uplifting. It was such a pleasure to be running off road. The muddy underfoot conditions actually made it all the more exciting for me. Even the hills (which on the first half of the course seemed to be never ending) were a joy to run, the surroundings and atmosphere of this race gave me an extra lift as I climbed. A definite 'do again' race. Thanks to all marshalls - you did a great job. Date of review: March 16, 2008
