In short: A real off-road trail marathon and amazingly well organised
In full: The organisation at this event is very good and there are signs at every corner...you'll never get lost...the course os quite hard though with regular winding hills but also nice downhill sections...watch out for the slipperry chalk section at the start..I cut my knee open on it badly...

In short: I finished this marathon on a high, I barely noticed I'd just run 26 miles
In full: The transport to the start, registration and facilities at the start were all perfect. There was no opportunity to run off course like I did on my last marathon as there were marshals or very bright yellow signs at every junction along the route. The only minor complaint was the confusion and queues at the end to pick up a t shirt or medal, which was mixed in with the baggage reclaim.

In short: A hilly course which was tricky underfoot. A good challenge but the narrow tracks in a lot of places meant you could not get past other slower runners especially uphill.
In full: The organisation was not great at the start (Broughton). Cannot see why they could not have sent the race numbers out with the packs. They set up in the village hall and when you get all the runners going through and sorting themselves out you get some guy spouting Health and Safety regulations and asking you to go outside. Barking!!! The finish was not much better, no signage as to where you got your T-Shirts. Also no refreshments for all the spectators.

In short: A good challenging cross country marathon
In full: Well organised and friendly marshalling along a great scenic course.Liked the idea of the mile markers shown in descending order for latter part of the route.Only gripe was the queue for the medal at the end.

In short: Superb again! Thanks, a great day out!
In full: Let's be clear - this is a marvellous event.

I think some of the half-wits claiming that the organisation of this superb event is poor should consider the following:

The organisers devise a superb, scenic and challenging course that has increased steadily in popularity over the years.

They lay on a superb bus service at minimal cost, taking competitors from the finish to the start before and after the race, making it as convenient as possible for everyone whichever end they park.

They organise bag delivery.

They organise and staff two independent venues at the start and finish.

They clearly way-mark and provide excellent marshals for the lengthy, complex route and no one gets lost.

Unfortunately, there is a bit of chaos actually trying to retrieve bags and pick up tee-shirts, despite the best efforts of the staff and scouts.

Well, I thought the whole experience was again brilliant, my fourth time over the full course. Definitely challenging in this direction – the ascent of Farley Mount being particularly arduous coming as it did towards the end.

Good luck to the group of soldiers completing the half in full marching order – yes I know that’s the sort of thing these guys get paid to do, but it was their spirit and cheer that was impressive – bet they didn’t complain at the end. Great to see ‘Le Tissier 7’ back on form this year – and what a cunning disguise, Matt.

I’ll be back next year for sure – great event, thanks so much Paul! Why don’t you try to identify all the complainers and ban them from next year’s race?

Oh, and to the guy somewhere below who said ‘the paths are too narrow’ – what planet are you from, chum?

In short: This one is special just for the scenery.
In full: i am sure it was shorter the other way around - but harder - more hills, narrower and steeper and given the meandering course (difficult to pass in places) i guess this was nearer 13.1 miles than previous years? The hill profile of all downhill for the last 4 km was a little short of the truth. I was lucky enough to finish before the rush so didn't experience the crowds collecting T-shirts and medals - improved on my 106th(04), 102nd(06) to finish 42nd and knock 12 minutes off my time hence my questioning the length of previous years - But at the start the lack of refreshments (no tea and buscuits!)and organisation (lots of hanging around after arriving an hour before on the bus and then lots of the slower runners at the front to push past) similarly not much going on at the finish - less atmosphere than in previous years finishing in Salisbury. But good T-shirt, it is always a great race - still can't walk...

In short: great race, and scenery, very friendly, shame about the queue to get your medal!
In full: Well signposted, lots of drink stops, fantastic route - exciting and different all the way and snap finish - turn a corner and you're there. BUT - on finishing we had to wait half an hour in a queue in the school gym to get medal/t-shirt- just when all you want to do is lie down, stretch, have a cup of tea, - anything but wait in a queue for half an hour - was almost tempted to go home without medal. Please find a better way!

In short: Fabulous Run. Shame about most of the organisation!
In full: I last ran this back in 2000 and always wanted to return and do it again! The run itself was really good and a challenge for most hardy off road runners which is how it should be so well done for that. However, it must be said that it seems to fall down on organisation! Some of which was excellent and other parts (need I say T Shirts and exiting the car park) was simply terrible. Also no refreshments, poor signage and poor post race signage. You have to assure us this won't happen next year please. I don't know about anyone else but I don't see the need for mile markers?!! On the plus side I thought the race was great and the marshalls I came across all really helpful and positive considering the length of time they spent outside. The bus to the start was friendly and thanks to the drivers please. Overall it wouldn't put me off returning and I hope it doesn't put of anyone els thinking of doing this event. Good luck for next year folks!!

In short: What an event to pick as a first marathon...
In full: Having done the half last year as my first half marathon, it seemed only fitting to do the full Clarendon as my first ever marathon. The organisation at the start and during the race was good, with encouraging marshalls and bags being delivered. I didn't have the same problem as many on here as I wasn't fast enough to be running into the half marathoners, so no queues at stiles for me. The scouts did do a good job regards baggage, but the queueing for medal/t-shirt is ridiculous. Given the price of the event, surely each competitor could be given a medal AND a t-shirt.
