In short: Really enjoyable In full: Great fun splashing through the puddles and mud and the organisation was superb. Purple Patch always do a good job. Definately will do this again Date of review: November 10, 2008
In short: Turned into a long flat X Country race In full: First half for many years and thoroughly enjoyed it. Conditions added on a few mins. but not really a problem. One suggestion-IPODDERS are a bit of a menace in these conditions-too narrow and can't hear runners behind. Well done Purple Patch! Date of review: November 10, 2008
In short: Too much mud and not enough overtaking. In full: My first half marathon and I'd been looking forward to it for ages hoping to beat the 1h45 a friend set in the GNR on his first. I thought that with a much smaller event I'd have a decent chance, but if you can't over take without sprinting past people in the short gaps available and you've got to concentrate on your footing all the time then you've no chance of a PB.
I enjoyed it, but it's not my kind of run so I doub't I'd do it again. Date of review: November 10, 2008
In short: great day -shame about the wind and mud...... In full: however what do you expect for November? It could have been worse and rained as well!! This was my first half and I really enjoyed it. The organisation was great, the marshalls encouraging, people friendly and the route well signed. Well done to everyone for not falling in the canal! Date of review: November 10, 2008
In short: Really different to your average 1/2 marathon. Loved it. In full: Such childish fun splashing through the pudddles & wondering if anyone has slipped on the leaves into the canal - a fair possibility. In the circumstances not one for a PB but I really enjoyed it and the 13 miles seemed to go relatively quickly. Would definitely do it again tho I presume Cowley to Cassiobury will end with a long uphill run thro Cassiobury Park rather than the lovely first downhill mile we enjoyed today. In short: Great race - mud, ducks, cheering marshalls and a hog roast at the end. This is what running should be all about. Thank you to the organisers for a memorable morning.a Date of review: November 9, 2008
