In short: Very well organised, great course in a lovely city - maybe a little more undulating than I'd hoped, In full: The start and finish at the race course were great, made for a really good finish atmosphere. In general the support on the course was great, although we only ran through small villages it seemed like most of the population had turned out at many of them. Again the support in the last mile along the river was a great lifter - helped by having names on numbers. I can't fault the organisation, with some nice touches: Names on Numbers, baggage tag on number, good "elite" facilities. Water and drinks stations aplenty on the course. I did say "never again", but if I were to do another marathon Chester would definitely be near the top of the list Date of review: October 10, 2011

In short: Great organisation, great atmosphere, a great race In full: This was my third marathon and I did my slowest time, however it was the one that I have enjoyed the most. The organisation was excellent, with the regular water stations breaking up the distance at perfect intervals. And thank you for all the portaloos which meant I could stop worrying about needing them, as I knew there were plenty en-route when I needed one. The support from those manning the stations was a real boost especially towards the end when the pain starts to kick in. Locals were another great boost with lots of support outside individual houses and especially in the villages. The best bit was having our names on our bibs which made the support from the sidelines even better and more personal - having someone shout your name as you run past made it all feel really special and put a smile on my face every time, especially in the last few miles. The race wasn't quite as flat as I had anticipated but overall an excellent race and one I would recommend to every runner. Well done organisers and thank you to everyone who helped and supported the race in any way. Date of review: October 10, 2011

In short: Great organisation and support made the pain of last few miles bearable! In full: Didn't get the time I hoped for and was in a fair amount of pain from 18m onwards but the great support and organisation meant I still had a great day. Marshalls and volunteers were FANTASTIC - kept encouraging me all the way and the names on the race numbers was a great idea. Really enjoyed the whole race even though it was painful! The support at the finish was awesome and really made my day. Great organisation throughout and at the finish too - would definitely recommend this race. Am tempted to enter 2012 race already but my legs aren't convinced just yet ;-) Date of review: October 10, 2011

In short: Fabulous start & finish @ the race course. First class organisation - plenty of staff on . Deserves to be a must do marathon In full: My 1st full marathon and as chosen for route and location . Did not disappoint - great idea using the race course, very inspirational. Nice 2 go through the city & crowds countryside & back again. Water stations & support wee brilliant. Which generated a super overall atmosphere. Ok , the course was not pancake flat - but the other positives far outweighed. Can see Date of review: October 10, 2011

In short: A great course with enthusiastic Spectators, well organised In full: A strange course this one, its city based with a few villages to run too before you run back to the city. Also you get to take in two countries. Brilliantly organised with great PB potential for the more focused club runner but still enough fun to be had for the runner like myself that went from a target of 4-30 to "please god let me finish" This was my first marathon and all I can say is that I am so so so glad I chose Chester. Well done to all the organisers, it went like clockwork from the start to the end. Date of review: October 10, 2011
