In short: Keeping up high standards In full: You can see why this race rates so highly. Excellent organisation in every aspect and great marshals and volunteers. Special mention to chap on the tannoy with his calming manner and useful tips before the race. Having pacers was excellent to encourage you along - so thanks to them. Great atmosphere amongst the runners. With closed roads there was plenty of room even when joined by KiloMarathon runners. Thanks. Date of review: October 6, 2014
In short: Absolutely fantastic race, incredible support, beautiful course! In full: I am so glad that I travelled to do this race, the organisation was brilliant. The course was beautiful and challenging enough to be keep you interested throughout without being too excessive. Most of all the Marshalls and the amazing support in the city and all of the villages we ran through made this a race I will definitely be doing next year. Date of review: October 6, 2014
In short: Great Event - Flawless Organisation In full: Having completed the Chester Half Marathon earlier in the year, I knew roughly what to expect, and I was not disappointed. Everything was smooth as clockwork. The route went through some nice scenic villages with lots of local support, although the section through the town centre at the start was way too crowded, so much so that it was impossible to take in the sights as you had to watch your feet the whole time. There were plenty of water stations & lots of support, especially towards the end. The second big hill near the end was a nasty surprise (they only mentioned the first one) which seemed to finish lots of people off! I am lucky to live locally so I also attended most of the monthly training runs, which were an excellent bonus. I would recommend them to anyone considering running next year - don't be shy as there is a real friendly atmosphere & no pressure to overdo it. Overall, a fantastic event that is a credit to Chester - well done Chris & Andy and everyone else involved.
In short: Great race In full: My first marathon and I chose Chester as the half marathons that I have done there were excellent. The marathon was similarly extremely well and thoughtfully organised in a good running spirit. Everything was covered from pre race free training runs, a great venue, fantastic marshalls and outstanding support along the route on closed roads. Thank you to everyone involved. In short: Full marks. I would recommend this one to first timers and to those looking for a fast time. In full: Definitely the best organised marathon of the 17 that I have completed. The metric marathoners were not a hindrance to me us, as rather than being in the way too much, it gave us a much needed boost as we overtook some of them. Not a large number of supporters out cheering but they did a good job keeping us motivated. Shame we can't also award them top marks for also organising perfect weather! PB for me, if you hadn't already guessed.
In short: My first marathon - very impressed with the whole day. In full: Had a great day - well organised. Thanks to the supporters, marshals, pace makers and the boys and girls at the water stations. Date of review: October 5, 2014
In short: super day, super scenery, excellent organisation In full: My 2nd Marathon after London this year and i preferred this one. Historic Chester views followed by magnificent scenery with the local hamlets, villages and towns all coming out to cheer us on. The volunteers cheering and clapping every runner to finish in the magnificent sights of Chester racecourse. Thanks Chris and Andy. Date of review: October 5, 2014
