In short: Excellent race, too hot but then we are British and we always moan regadless of the weather! In full: Blimey just how hot was that!!! thought i would get a PB but guess too much cycling prior to the race put paid to that. 1/2 way i was ok and running well then the heat got me and that was my PB gone, however chip timing, tee shirt and goodie bag not bad, could have done with opening the changing rooms up and had to resort to using the ladies showers (on my own) but will be back to beat my time. Many thanks to Will and the team, stirling effort. PS you lot should have hung around and watched the other races...absolute animals!!! Date of review: August 7, 2007
In short: Smooth organisation, good vfm, high potential race. In full: Great 10k. Challenging to do three laps but on a slightly cooler day would be PB potential. Not totally flat but interesting to use a race track and choose the lines. I wonder if they could take a leaf out of London and trace a blue line through the course. Would be helpful. Goody bag dropped down in estimation and would still prefer a medal to a t-shirt but still good VFM. Sorry that the names of runners pre-entered not on numbers this time. That was a nice touch. Great to see results up so quickly after the event. Parking good. Atmosphere good. Could have done with more water/water marshalls at the end. Massage table (fre) a bonus this time too. Will be back Date of review: August 7, 2007
In short: Very well organised potentially fast race In full: The heat put paid to any thoughts I had of a PB but it is a fast course so I'll be back in November to try again! Overall organisation excellent.Good idea to communicate by emails and save on problems with the post.Collecting race number on the day was n't a problem alle very efficient. In short: Definite PB potential, and a surprisingly pleasant run In full: Thought I would give this race a go as it could be one I use on a regular basis to check my progress. Had also heard the goodie bag is very good!
When I arrived I was afraid this could be the most boring race ever, three laps of a racing circuit..hmm..
In the end it was a pleasantly surprising run, nice to be free of traffic and fumes for a change. Was cruising for the first 6-7k and can't understand why I didn't get a PB, I guess the extreme heat must have put paid to that.
The goodie bag was nice and value for money but not quite what I was expecting. I have to say I have never seen "official finisher" t-shirts being given out before the race has started!
Organisation was top notch, directions to the race could have been better, but I liked the way we were given clear instructions during the briefing.
Good mix of runners, I made a point of staying to clap the slower runners over the line. It would be boring if we all ran a 40-minute 10k!
Won't be back in November as it clashes with the Downton half (one of my favourites) but fully intend to do this one again. Date of review: August 6, 2007
