In short: Somewhat deflated
In full: After spectating last year I had really been looking forward to starting 2011 on a high and enjoying a fun but challenging run around Boxhill, taking things easy and running with my wife for a change.

Thanks to all the marshals - great support and help. A pity that the organisation left a less than memorable feeling in our minds.

This is a view from the back of the race.

Last year there seemed to be a great spirit with runners passing through in little groups, mainly due to the staggered start times, slower runners were always in a group with others not stretched out at the back of the event like they are in most competetive events. The new massed start and having to head downhill before then going back up seemed to have killed that spirit off.

This added to all those at the back 'missing' out on a T - shirt and 2011 medal to take away on the day spoilt things, now i know how my wife feels at most events, finishing after all the drinks and food have gone and feeling as though she is keeping timekeepers waiting, hope they stayed to record the last finisher who was still running the last half mile when we were on our way back up the hill to the car park.

The organiser's will post the medal and T shirt later but it is not quite the same as having something to take away on the day.

Comments have been made here and elsewhere on the rising cost of Trionium events and whilst agreeing that they have always offered great value and good memento's in the past care has to be taken to ensure that everyone entering - including those at the back benefit and leave feeling that they have contributed to a great event.

In short: Can't think of a better way to start the New Year, my 4th time, I've been smiling all day !
In full: Great fun, worth it just to see the outfits, people are encouraging but it's tough enough to make you feel like you've earned the generous momentos. Lovely L/s running top with names printed on the back, mug and a medal. Soup and roll very welcome too. Thanks to Dr McCaffery, his family and all those who made it happen.

In short: I never realised how little oxygen there was in the atmosphere till I did this. Sign me up for 2012.

In short: Great - just great!
In full: Had a great time - aching too much to write really, but just wanted to congratulate everyone involved on what was a splendid event. Had a fab time, though will never EVER attempt to run a course like this in a cardboard box again.....the steps near the end were killer as the box kept bouncing off my knees and jabbing me in the chin.....the good news is I only vomited in my mouth once.... :)

In short: Very Disappointing
In full: This being the 4th knacker Cracker i have done, i found the new format (ie mass start) very underwelming. It was quite lonely near the back with no atmosphere at all (quite unlike the 3 previous years).
But the worst bit is to finish, and be told we have run out of medals and 't' shirts..... quite unbelievable! And the people behind me would not even have got a mug. (thats an expensive 10k with only a mug to show for it)
At the finish everyone had gone as well so no great atmosphere here either.
That aside the marshals were as great as usual and the costumes(that i could see) must have given the walkers a few shocks.
I have left not knowing if i want to do it next year!

In short: Hilly. Hard. Amazing Fun!
In full: Another great Trionium race and a great way to kick start the year. Fresh air, great scenery, long hills (you will be walking at points!) and a fabulous atmosphere. Be warned, if you don't turn up in fancy dress (even just a hat) you will be the odd one out! All levels and abilities welcomed and I will be back next year. Thanks to all the marshsalls who make these races possible.

In short: Awesome again
In full: Felt even harder than last year but maybe that's just the passage of time dulling the pain. Excellent organisation, great marshalls, very silly costumes. Splendid.

In short: Best way to start the year !
In full: Absolutely great - proves that a race can be tough and fun at the same time. Great organization, friendly crowd with lots of kids goggling at the grownups in daft costumes, super mementoes and the hot soup and roll at the end was a lifesaver. Thanks to Dr. Rob and team for a fantastic start to the year.
