In short: awsome! In full: amazing run fast flat and around the nice parts of pompey but at the end running along the soreline was hard keeped sinking in the mud but well worth it. Date of review: February 22, 2010

In short: Great flat race with a sting in the tail and nice atmosphere In full: Really good race, my first half marathon. The going was nice and flat for someone from a place oop north where it's impossible to run more than a few yards without encountering a steep hill, but this was made up for by lots of mud and seaweed near the end, which threw my pace somewhat. Organisation great but 8 potaloos for 800 people is a bit wrong. I'll definitely be doing it next year. Date of review: February 22, 2010

In short: mud and shingle and beach for added interest In full: This was my first half marathon and I really loved it. I agree there could have been a water station between miles 3 and 9, but the jelly babies made up for it. The marshalls were friendly and encouraging. I liked the last part best - the mud and beach etc were more interesting than the long straight pavements - though it was lovely to run by the sea with the smell of salt in the wind. The weather could be improved upon! And maybe a few more toilets at the start. Overall brilliant - see you next year. Date of review: February 22, 2010

In short: Great race - Flat and fast with a sting in the tail In full: Flat and fast (even with headwind for first few miles) with a bit of a sting in the tail that slows the overall pace a little. Friendly atmosphere. First water station too early on but not a problem. Great marshaling and interesting mix of scenery from sea views and beach front arcades to muddy fields and shingle beaches. In short: Part road, part mudbath. Would benefit from better weather... In full: 1) I'd wish all race directors were that relaxed :-) 2) You can't change the weather, can you? 3) First drinks station a bit early (3 miles) and second one too late (9 miles). 4) The instructions "30 min walk from Fratton station" is maybe a touch optimistic (about 3 miles, I have seen people running slower...) 5) Very well marshal-ed. Unlike quite a few other races you really couldn't miss any turns or junctions. Date of review: February 22, 2010

In short: good out and back- with interest on the shingle! In full: Great organisation - with lots of parking nearby (a plus if you are from "out of town"). If it had not been raining, this would have been an excellent, uplifting run - but with the rain - along with seaweed and deep puddles - concentration was required on where to put the next step!!!
Everyone was really friendly. The marshalls were great (thanks for coming out on a wet Sunday morning!! :) ) Nice to have the faster runners cheering us slow ones at the back over the finish, and a nice bit of soup at the end to warm up with.
loved the hot/cold pack in the goody bag - well used already!!!
hope to see you next year. Date of review: February 22, 2010

In short: Interesting mixed-terrain course. Tougher than i thought it was going to be! In full: The course starts with a nice flat run along the front but then turns back and goes a bit mental from mile 8, running over muddy fields, over shingly beaches and round commons. So I found it pretty hard going for last few miles and had to abandon pace. Really needs one more drinks station (perhaps replace the one at mile 10/11 with one at about mile 5/6. Apart from that well organised and good fun. Date of review: February 22, 2010
