In short: Best race of the year In full: Amazing views, best atmosphere, low key for such an amazing race! A course to be measured on, and a sting with the climbs, but will be back! The final climb sorts the boys out from the men! Crazy mile 24, 5min miling downhill. And sporadic and great support. DDiolch am y support!!!! Date of review: October 30, 2009
In short: Beautiful, beautiful, windy, rainy, beautiful. In full: A very enjoyable and friendly run - challenging and well supported and marshalls were amazing. Wondering if I can count it as my first ultra with a slightly panic stricken 1.5 mile warm up to the start heh heh Date of review: October 29, 2009
In short: A tough course. Event let down badly by very poor organisation. In full: Issues with organisation - Hopeless bus servce - No shelter for bus queue or start - Race started late - No guidance at end to show you where to get a drink/food - No water available at end - No one was helping runners when I finished - The room at the end was in darkness. Left to flounder around in the dark with no support/direction Date of review: October 29, 2009
In short: Brilliant race, fantastic marshalls and awesome scenery! In full: A bit muddled at the start with only a couple of buses to ship us to the start. No shelter at the start definitely part of the issue. Fantastic support from local people and the marshalls around the course - I am sure I saw Chris Boardman cheering us on on the way down to Bedgellert! Loved the challenge of the hill at 21 miles and the subsequent battle of the elements which followed as I was almost blown off the top! Strange loop as I reached LLanberis which was a bit frustrating. Big thanks to the lovely man at the football club showers - there weren't any for the girls but he was very helpful and found me somewhere warm to change. Date of review: October 29, 2009
In short: start area could be better In full: the organizers should do away with the bussesthey never had them a couple of years ago,if you expect to run 26.2 miles a brisk walk to the start won't harm, why can't they have some sort of shelter @ the start,i've done 9 off them and its allways wet,it would be nice to start warm& dry, perhaps we will have a fristy day 1 year Date of review: October 28, 2009
In short: First time 5 years ago and broken legs (twice) can't hold me back each year :) In full: Diolch Eryri! Another reason to be proud to be able to complete a marathon and especially to be Welsh.
Yes, the bus lift to the start could have been better but the camaraderie at the Snowdon is fantastic, and let's face it it's Wales in October so join in to experience :) - I heard more than 5 runners say it was their first and was so pleased for them - I chatted to 2 and said they'd remember it and re-tell the experience for a long time for both good and personally hard reasons but live and enjoy it all.
What a fantastic set of supporters - the weather once again was a little inclement... but so many frozen people shouted well done and keep going I was delighted to continue (again with cramp after 16 miles - my own fault!!!)
The feed/water stations were greater than last year thanks again for the support :)
Yep, the finish could have been better managed - but I'm sure if the fee goes up a couple of pounds no-one will complain - but thank you again :)
