In short: Great 1st Half Marathon In full: This was my 1st Half and I'd been warned how hard the hills were. Maybe because of this I didn't find it quite so bad as I thought it would be. The crowd were fantastic, the marshalls did a great job as did the scouts at the water stations. Only one negative - I was bursting for the loo most of the way round. Thought there might have been a portaloo somewhere !!!! Never mind, it probably made me fun faster to get to the finish anyway....
Definitely going to be back next year to improve my time and beat the hills. Date of review: March 22, 2010
In short: The toughest race I've done to date. Give up any thoughts of a PB and triumph in the achievement of completing such a steep beast and you'll be more than happy! Date of review: March 22, 2010
In short: A race of two halves In full: Its a long slog through the first half of this event, never really steep, but long enough to leave you knowing you did it. The second half is a interesting undulating to downhill to flat along the seafront blast. The course was tight in places, and there was some shoving (and a few bo problems, but enough said - you know who you are) but nothing out of hand. The course was well marshalled and the crowd support is the best Ive seen, full of enthusiasm and cheering everyone on - even bursting into song occasionally. No goody bag (but then who hasnt got dozens of event shirts/mugs cluttering up the house?) but there were many nice touches : free tea and coffee, before and after the run, and timing clocks around the course. Many thanks to the Hastings Lions for their slick organisation, and the volunteers on the drinks stations for making this a great event. Be there next year. Date of review: March 22, 2010
In short: A brilliant and up-lifting event. In full: Had a brilliant day, the crowd were great fun and motivating with plenty of sweets being given out. The hills were either very long or short and steep, but all in all not too bad. It was well organised but with a lack of toilets near the start. Thanks to the lady in the Marina Fountain pub for letting us use your loos and for a lovely pint of guiness at the end. No goody bag but a nice medal to commemorate the day. It was my first half and i achieved 2 hours 20 mins which i was extremely please with. A fabulous even and one i would highly recommend. Date of review: March 22, 2010
In short: overall a good run, the start was congested In full: very friendly race, the hills were not too bad, 2 sharp hills at start. the start was congested, but soon evened out and plenty of room to run, ideal weather. the tea/coffee at finish was very welcome. The horse brass was better than the average medal you receive for a lot of races Date of review: March 22, 2010
In short: Lovely race, really enjoyed myself In full: Thoroughly enjoyed the race, thanks to all the organisers/marshalls etc and what amazxing crowd support. Thank you to the residents of Hastings, particularly the lady with the bag of Refreshers!
But I do ache a bit today, but that is my fault due to not running much lately having bronchitus!
My only complaint is....give it up with the horse brasses guys, medal please :)
In short: Second time running this one & enjoyed it more, In full: Very good race and support all the way round.I presume many people did not read their information pack as there were extra toilets and changing in the Sea Cadets Hall (guarded by guns outside) just 5 minutes from the start. In full: Enjoyed this race, despite it being tough for the first half, the support is excellent all the way round. Only complaint would be that the end of the race is badly organised, I could not find where the water was & it's to busy at the end. Date of review: March 22, 2010
