In short: Nice atmosphere, challenging but rewarding course
In full: My second Hastings Half and I enjoyed it much more this year when I knew what was coming. As ever, the Scouts, Marshalls, voluteers and locals were wonderful as ever. I really hope the town and local charities really proposer from this great event.
Like many other out-of-towners, I stayed overnight and spent money over the course of the weekend, bringing business to the area. Exactly what should happen.
A gentle reminder to the guys in the commentary box, I know it's really important to keep supporting your local charities and groups, but also, some more to us out of towners too? It makes such a difference to hear out names cheered along too.
That's a small point - your marshalls and local folk are as fabulous as ever. It's so great to come and join in the atmosphere and enjoy the support. Well done!
Any possibility of more portaloos? That's what everyone asks!
Looking forward to next year - I'll be making another weekend of it and loving it!

In short: A bit more than a stroll along the prom, prom, prom!..
In full: Firstly, thanks go to the bus drivers, race organisers and those scouts handing out the water, with a huge thankyou to all the people of St Leonards for their warm welcome to their town and, yes, even the Church was in full support of us runners.

The run was suprising undulating, shall we say, with a few quick downhills to pay us back. A cracking race with 5000 people on the course, but I think a better half marathon in the Solent Half with it's staggering views and is very flat. Well done to the RunnersWorld pace makers for setting an even pace and for the chat near the finish.

In short: Fab race - but a toughy!
In full: Being a local I love the Hastings Half - a nice mix of scenery including the old town - every changing route that makes a nice change from some lap races. Excellent support as always - I have never seen such a huge amount of local supporters at any race, including bands, crowds and lots of refreshments. Having said that, it is always tough - some big hills, Queensway being a killer couple of miles uphill. This year with some intensive hill training managed to smash 16 mins off last years time. Also v impressed with the text message service for chip times - very good idea, definitely appreciated by all I ran with. I will be back next year!

In short: Great support all round the course which really keeps you going.
In full: There is nothing I can say but good about this race, apart from the 1919ft assent up until mile seven, but then it is all down hill, all the mile markers were spot on and the race marshalls were excellent. The support from the general public was immense, some brought jelly babies, bananas, oranges and others brought out pots and pans to bang on just to spur you on. Many thanks to all the kids who were helping at the water stations, and a big thank you to the organisers for the free tea and coffee at the end of the race. Awesome race day. Thank you.

In short: Thank you Hastings
In full: I really enjoyed this. Wish I'd done a bit more hill training as the first six miles were hard work. The organisation was generally good. Really appreciated the hard work of the marshalls and Scouts around the course handing out drinks and bits of fruit. Thanks also to the Guides who provided tea at the end - very welcome. The people of Hastings did themselves proud with the support around the course. A great experience - will definitely come back.
