In short: Fast course, really well organised. The Kilomathon series has a bright future! In full: If all the future Kilomathon's are as well run as this one was from my perspective near the front, then it will go far. The distance is challenging but not a killer by a long stretch so is ideal for half-marathoner's who don't want to step up too much further. The mostly flat course helps also. An extra water station wouldn't go amiss as a minor quibble about today. Looking forward to trying 26.2km again! Date of review: March 14, 2010
In short: Great flat course, welcoming to all runners In full: Positives - Good distance for marathon training, friendly atmosphere, flat and fast (except for the wind), good range of water, sports drinks and gels. Great medal! Negatives - lack of toilets at the start for such a large attendance, stood around in the pens for a long time before we started. The tickets for the shuttle buses sold out weeks before the event, more need putting on for next year.
Thanks a great day over all Date of review: March 14, 2010
In short: Amazing challenge for someone who has not dared to move past a half marathon! In full: The start could have been a little better organised - I ended up in the wrong starting section!! It was a wonderful challenge as I have never ventured past the half marathon comfort. Now maybe I could go another step further to a full marathon!! The course was relatively flat, totally flat if you live in an area like mine! The locals came out and gave support which was really wonderful. I was running for Roy Castle's Lung Cancer Organisation and one lady thanked me for running for them. This brought a tear to my eye as I was running this on Mothers Day because I have recently lost my mum to Lung Cancer, this was my first Mother's Day without her and I wanted to honour her in a different way. SO that lady made my day.
Finish line was a bit sad because the spectators could not really get to you to cheer, but the ones that did were great.
The water stations were well staffed and all lovely and welcoming. Thanks to the you cadets for also giving their support.
Wonderful race that I will do again and again I hope. Date of review: March 14, 2010
