In short: absolutely made the first day of this new decade. I'd never done it before and smiled all the way round. It was hard but it was such fun...even after 4 hours sleep!
In full: I immediately emailed Rob to thank him and everyone that was part of it . I loved the race and the atmosphere, the fact it was freezing but marshalls were still jolly and present. Initially we were worried about fancy dress, but it made it so special. I was a rather unladylike fairy and my friend was a dalmation and we cheered each other on with comments and praise. Seriously well done to the organisers....with cheese and pickle sanis and soup at the end. And a top that fitted. Yey!

In short: Tough, but a lot of fun
In full: I had never run this race before and loved it. I will definitely be entering next year.

Lets be clear, it is very tough. Box Hill is a very steep hill and the race starts with a kilometre long climb up it. And that is the easiest of the 4 main hills on the course. Of the 4 associated down hills only 2 are runnable, but that includes the glorious run into the finish.

Why was it so much fun? It was a sunny New Year's Day with amazing scenery and virtually everyone was wearing fancy dress. You got the sense of achievement from taking part in such a hard race, but also you couldn't take it that seriously as there was no PB potential. So you just had fun and enjoyed the costumes and the bits that weren't uphill.

In short: Always a pleasure
In full: Freezing conditions made both te up and downhills lethal. Guted the stepping stones were well and truly out of order....
