In short: Beautiful course along the canal with plenty to see to keep your attention away from your aching muscles! In full: I thought this was a beautiful course. The scenery along the canal was very uplifting and I felt really lucky to be one of the 500! A nice flat run deffinately helped me to enjoy this rather than endure it! Especially as it was mothers day - Loved it! And a big thanks to the brilliant marshalls and the fantastic drummers at the pub (and the jelly bean provider!!) Date of review: March 23, 2009
In short: Well organised, lovely surroundings, and made a first timer like me very content. In full: The atmosphere is comfortably relaxed. Well organised parking, easy access loos (thanks to the sports centre).
The run was along easy paths with some gentle climbs at the turn-around point. The occasional bridge crossings tested my resolve on the way back but the incredibly enthusiastic marshals made the time pass more quickly and lifted the spirits when the body started to complain.
More training and next year's run should be another good memory. Thanks again to all involved. Date of review: March 23, 2009
In short: Fantastic organisation and really enjoyable In full: I have to agree, this was one of the friendliest and most well organised races I've taken part in. You really couldn't fault a thing, and as everyone has said the marshals were particularly great - their enthusiasm was very welcome! Beats many other half marathons around and the route was just glorious. Date of review: March 23, 2009
In short: Fantasic event - exceptionally well-organised and a beautifully scenic race-route In full: This was a very well organised event which I think made the day - the facilities were great, the marshals were all very encouraging and it was an imaginative and varied race-route - fantastic! In short: This is what all race organisations should strive for In full: Hats off to the Marshals, they really wanted to be there and without exception every one cheered the runners along. Crowd deserve a clap as well as all runners were warmly received both at the start / finish and 5/8 mile marker at the pub. Nice touch to have the band playing there as you got a lift twice!
goody bag / frequency of water made for a great value run (some £12 cheeper than Reading where only £1 going to charity tut tut)
Many thanks to PP for organising. I'd love to know how much was raised for the charity? Date of review: March 23, 2009
