In short: A Challenge - not a race - one to find the route - the other to finish In full: Organisers need some help from the runners. could not believe how long it took to get my number on the day. If the entry form says route will be marked - then IT HAS TO BE MARKED - whether or not a map is handed out. If the event is to grow - just needs a few tweaks - in any case a great challenge !
In short: If you are lucky with the weather this is a great day out In full: Last year's event was 29.1 miles measured by GPS - this year the promised shorter version was still 27.3 miles measured by GPS - still some tweaking to do there. Could do with a few more direction arrows. We are local so know where we are but for visitors it could be daunting in places. Biscuits at the water stations most welcome. The "Tough One" is one of the best off road marathons I have done Date of review: May 3, 2005
In short: Really hard, extra mile at the end was a killer, but well worth the experience. In full: A few more directional indicators would have been welcome on the marathon, as we were all spaced out towards the end, and had no one in sight to help. the last downhill stretch was a real blister maker for me!!, (but I loved it all, really) Date of review: May 3, 2005
In short: Hilly, challenging but great fun, I'll definitely do it again In full: A fantastic race, lovely atmosphere, friendly and unbelievable scenary. Only improvement - race organisers just need to place route markers at a few more places. Date of review: May 3, 2005
In short: A tough challenge in the Downs - a good day out . In full: I found the map ok - though I had the event before - the cutting out of a loop from last year seemed to catch some runners out - as they took last years route. Needs a few more signs and a couple of marshals at a couple of junctions. Date of review: May 2, 2005
