In short: Great organisation, semi tough hills and beautiful scenery In full: Some challenging hills but the scenery compensates for this twice over. I plan to make this an annual event in my running calendar, Date of review: October 31, 2010
In short: Don't miss a trick, this is a treat In full: This race killed me last year. Seriously. They had to send my body back to my parents after it was found in a ditch at the side of the route. It took so long, even my clubmates had gone home. This year... the plan was to take 1/2 hour off that time. I managed 35 minutes. But that's not the point. The race overall was very well organised; the route is rolling hills through Clumber Park (woods) and town... The tshirt is halloweeeny and has my name on it (and those of several hundred other people!). The chip and pin part worked well and the race really was a treat! Date of review: October 31, 2010
In short: If you only do one half marathon next year choose this one! In full: I love this race. Have run it several times and always do well. Love the scenery. The people who make it happen and run smoothly do a fantastic job. I'll be putting this one on the calendar for next year. Got a PB this year so feeling very happy today! In short: One of the best organised half marathons around! In full: Brilliant event, especially as it was traffic free....well done to the Police & Local Authority for continuing their support (Newark take note).
Everyone was so friendly & the humourous signs (short cut maps £2.50 etc), was an inspired touch by someone as was the Halloween theme.
....no wonder it was a record entry...so well done again to everyone who made the event possible. Date of review: October 31, 2010
In short: Hillier than expected! In full: The first four miles are very hilly (big steep hills)! After that, it's a very nice run through Clumber Park. Excellent t-shirt, no medal but that's reflected in the price.
The only issue was that possibly the start could be colour coded for times expected as there were lots of runners in the Under 1 hr 30 & 1 hour 40 who clearly weren't that fast and it caused a lot of congestion for the first mile or so, but I'm nit picking. Date of review: October 31, 2010
In short: Great race lot's of uphills but then that means lots of downhills too! In full: First time I have tried the Worksop half and I have to say it was great, the scenery is lovely and the constant undulations are not for everyone but they keep you interested and the race flies by. Mostly club runners but don't be put off, this race is great fun and course is a good challenge Date of review: October 31, 2010
In short: Undulating varied course which you can run quickly on In full: Both my wife and I managed to hit PBs today so this is definitely a course you can run quickly on if the legs are fired-up enough. That said, it is not an easy course, and the first 3 miles feel quite uphill. The scenery is varied and keeps your interest, and the organisation was reasonably good. More toilets (or at least better signage on arrival at the top of the market place to mark where the toilets that are there are!) would be better, but the race was away on time and well marshalled/organised throughout. A nice autumnal half marathon. Date of review: October 31, 2010
In short: This was my 2nd half marathon and really enjoyed it, but the first 4 mies of the race are very hilly in fact the 1st mile is a very tough climb but having said that I really enjoyed it and will definitely be back next year Date of review: October 31, 2010
In short: magnificent scenery and nice challenging run In full: this was my fifth marathon event in seven weeks and I certainly felt it today. However, this was a really well organised event. Despite my wear and tear I did enjoy it. The route goes through some absolutely beautiful areas. The course is quick and had a good amount of uphill and downhill. Nice quirky t-shirt and a race I would definetely run again Date of review: October 31, 2010
In short: Great Half-Marathon through beautiful scenary In full: This was my first half-marathon and despite running out of stream at 11 miles I throughly enjoyed it. There was no major problems and the pre race info (regarding parking etc) was excellent. Loved the chip timing and the fact it was traffic free. Afterwards it was great to be emailed a link to photos taken on the day.
Having your name on the back of the t-shirt (if you entered early enough) was a nice touch but personally I'd still prefer a medal!
Thanks to all the marshalls, organisers etc. Heres to next year! Date of review: November 3, 2009
