In short: Excellent race and fantastic support from the people of Hastings In full: My third time doing this race and the hills in the first part are becoming more challenging with age. But the support from the crowd all the way round the course is inspirational, thank you to everyone who came out and cheered us on. Another nice day down on the coast, definitely would recommend this to anyone looking for an enjoyable half marathon experience. Will be back for more next year. Date of review: March 22, 2010
In short: Very testing, but I loved it! :-) In full: This was my first half marathon, so I was little anxious about the hilly start, but although it was hard work I really enjoyed it. The support throughout the whole course was magnificent and kept me going. I found the last 2 miles very challenging - I could see what loooked like a bouncy castle in front for ages! - I kind of wish it was, so I could just collapse on it at the end!!
Very well organised - would highly recommend. Date of review: March 22, 2010
In short: one of my all time fav haf marathons In full: as my 5th time of running this one and im sure i will be back for more. the crowd support gets better every year. and a big thank you to the marshals who as always did a brilliant job. see you all next year all being well Date of review: March 22, 2010
In short: Why did I forget about that hill??? In full: Second time here, and 5.30 quicker, so must be doing something right!!! Either that or the magnificent crowd support makes you find another gear!!
The best half I have run - from great organisation, fantastic crowds, to the marshalls and scouts who were outstanding!
Big question for me: Why can't Brighton learn from this? It wasn't just the fact that the weather was better, but even the parking was only £3 rather than the £16 we got stung along the coast!
Can't say anything about toilets etc as was in the pub before and after so all great as far as I'm concerned and will definitely be back!
Well done and thank you to the organisers and all concerned!! Date of review: March 22, 2010
In short: A great challenge, well organised and friendly. In full: Last year, Hastings was my first ever race and I came it at 2.15, wheezing with asthma. A year on, with the FLM and two more halfs under my belt, I came back to give Queensway what for.
Delighted to report that I came in with a PB at 1:40:27!The speed work at Clapham Runners must be paying off, because I felt like I had an extra gear and stayed in it, chewing up that hill and bouncing down the other side.
Thank you, Hastings, for the terrific organisation again and for helping me slay a dragon. And well done to everyone who finished.
A particular thank you to the British Red Cross. My running mate passed out ten yards before the finish and they looked after him brilliantly. They even got his number swiped and collected a medal for him. Fred and Sue, you're angels! Date of review: March 22, 2010
In short: A great run In full: More toilets and a t-shirt would be nice. Great support throughout the punishing opening 7 miles rewarded with great sprints downhill thereafter....back next year. Date of review: March 22, 2010
In short: Testing course. Great atmosphere and excellent organisation. In full: Why cant people get in the correct starting zone? It's not that difficult or are people confusing their ambitions with their capabilities LOL. Date of review: March 21, 2010
