In short: geat day out no matter the weather In full: Good organisation but the wave system got a bit un-organised due to the lack of signange-I only just managed to squeeze into mine. Some mud fields at busy pathways but nice goody bag and friendly marshals. Great amount of pre-race info. The bands were great and parking was ok only becuase we left the car in the city centre pay and display and walked ot the start.Would come back again. In short: Loved it! In full: My first 'proper' race - entered after going to watch last year and being inspired by all the runners. The crowd was magnificent - amazing support all the way round. Well organised. Date of review: October 27, 2008

In short: Prilent New Event In full: Despite the rain and the cold first thing and warmer aswell. Its OK.Pure Speed with more crowds and runners then ever. One come back is Channel 5 Live inwhich them focus on Paula and the Elite men.But not all the runners expected.I wave to the first camera and more runners do the same. But I think Ch5 cut some of the live link up to make way for paula.I Know she well nown. But we do all the work aswell with funny, serious, charitys and wheelchair bound aswell.I think Live Link Up will be like Great North instead of 1half hour.Should be 3Hours at least? Maybe Next Year or can Sky,Ch4 or the BBC take the touch? Date of review: October 27, 2008

In short: One of the best organised races I've ever taken part in In full: This may be a pricey race but its damm good. The rain didn't dampen the event, however if it had been wet on the Saturday for the kiddies runs the 'Charity Village' would have been a disaster zone a la Bath Half Marathon March 2007. A really good run and the supporters were great. Date of review: October 27, 2008

In short: well organised, good course, all you need except for the morons on the carparking In full: They really have got the organisation sussed and everything went well. Good support from the locals. The big problem was the so called professionals running the carpark. So slow getting you in, not nearly enough people taking the money I nearly missed the start despite being there by 9.00. Going out they completely lost the plot, arguing amongst themselves and gumming everything up solid for over an hour. It took the police to sort it out. They really must crack this. In short: Great day out. Some inspiring ships. Brilliant atmosphere. In full: My second Great South and I enjoyed every minute. My time was 14 seconds slower this year, and I'm putting that down to accidentally getting stuck behind the guy in the green Borat-style mankini. Still, he definitely seemed to make the day of quite a lot of the crowd so good for him! I didn't park anywhere near the start so from my point of view the organisation was very good. Could have done with some slightly more kicking music in the last mile. Last year we had 'Eye of the Tiger' but this year it was a bit airy fairy and half the speakers weren't working. Ah well. I'll be back next year. Date of review: October 27, 2008

In short: My first GSR ... but not my last! In full: As a fairly novice (and not very good) runner, this was the longest distance I have ever raced. I loved it, I thought the route was suitably varied, great support all along the route, well signposted as I ticked the miles off, and I managed to keep running until the end, though I'm feeling it today. I thought the wave start for greens seemed a tad chaotic, with A's B's and C's merging, but then I was spoiled by the precision start of the Gt Capital Run. Overall though loved it.
My only complaint, and it has been said before, was one exit out of the carpark which meant I spent my race time again just trying to get onto the road. Date of review: October 27, 2008

In short: Great day out and my first ever race In full: Probably a bit ambitious choosing this as my first race but I did it. The atmosphere around the course was great, lots of support from the residents and the bands, particularly the drummers who moved form mile 1 to mile 6 - thanks. Travel was easy using the train and I could have got there a lot later and spent less time in the rain. Nice medal and T-shirt. Date of review: October 27, 2008

In short: Yet another GREAT South Run. Well done to the organisers. In full: Loved the race and well done to the organisers. Only complaint is that I received the wrong sized t-shirt. Despite collecting it from the "large" collection point got a small T-shirt (not good for a 14 stone man). Hope the Great Run Team will respond to my pleas and find me a large one for me to wear. Everything else great, even the rain eased throughout the race. Special mention to the car park team who ensured the exit from the common was swift and they were all very cheerful even though they must have been soaking and freezing. I will also mention the crowds who year after year turn out in their thousands to make it a truly memorable event. WELL DONE PORTSMOUTH Date of review: October 27, 2008
