In short: enjoyed the new course
In full: liked the new course, if any of the 'hard' trail could be replaced with 'soft' trail (grass/mud) in the future that would be great!

very surprised and pleased to win the over 40's men prize (would have preferred a trophy as I haven't got any!)

overall a good race

In short: Well organised, original momento & a course PB
In full: Really enjoyed this race again. Very friendly marshals. Well organised and nice to get something different as a momento (pottery mug). Big thanks to the volunteers & organisers!

In short: Fantastic friendly muddy race!
In full: Really enjoyed the race - superb organisation, encouraging marshalls and a challenging cross-country course. Loved getting the special mug memento instead of a t-shirt. I will definitely come back next year for more!

In short: Great organisation from MRC, good atmosphere, mud and water made it entertaining in sections, great views and downhill to the finish and tea
In full: Really enjoyed this run, a cold day and wet and muddy in places making it a strength sapping event. But a great atmosphere and if you love trail running then you would love this, just the right type of 'challenging'. Marlborough Running Club organise some fantastic events and I am happy to travel to compete in them and this was no different, friendly and supportive marshals and tea and cake at the finish - what more could you want.

In short: Glad I brought my mudsnorkel!
In full: Very muddy in places; could have used a canoe for some of the 'alternative' bits; the photos of Mud Alley don't do it justice. Lots of looking like ducks on ice, and some wallowing. But there were lots of drier, sounder, tracky bits in between. Good profile, hills not too challenging and good to descend to the finish. Felt quite bleak at the tops, with grey skies and cold wind, but in good weather views would be glorious. Very well organised and friendly.

In short: good all round cross country run
In full: Probably my favourite event, 8+ miles of mud & track about right for beginners & experienced. longer would be a bit gruelling for less fit runners. Didn`t quite make the prizes - perhaps next year. Great fun.

In short: A really enjoyable event as long as you've got the grip!
In full: My first ever race so I have nothing to compare it with, but what a benchmark! Enjoyed it thoroughly, grippy Salomons SC2's were the right choice for me, coping well with super slippery wet clay and compacted trails equally well. A lot of people appeared to be in road shoes, which would have made some sections a bit miserable! Can't wait for next year and will definitely be entering other events now, thanks to Phil and all the marshalls for such a brilliant introduction to racing.

In short: Hard going, exhausting and fun
In full: Nice mix of tracks and fields. Hard going through all the mud and some very slippery bits! An army of friendly and encouraging marshals, and a lovely mug as a souvenir made the day for me. A very friendly race, albeit there were some seriously fit competitors (not me!) flying round the course. Will do again.

In short: superb race
In full: this is now my second time i have done this race and its a superb but yet challenging race this is because of the MUD and road conditions and i am surprised that nobody fell into the Drink (the slimy water) or lose their shoes, but i did see a few people fall over and loads of muddy legs, The Course was (is) WELL marshalled and great to come back to the village hall for a nice cup of tea (shear Bliss) and this year we had as a Prize was a Mug Very Useful. I'll be back next year

In short: Wonderful scenery, when you get to look at it!
In full: This was my first race and for me, it was brilliant. Really enjoyed it, although it was very wet, very slippery, and a constant struggle for us all to stay upright as it is a well used track by people and machinery - making very small ridges for the runners.
My GPS recorded 8.48 miles, so it seems well over the 8 miles described. There were a half way (ish) sign and a 1 mile to go (ish) sign. Very well organised and I appreciated the long walk back to the car park. The mug is amazing :)
