In short: Great Race, Great Organisation, Tough First 4 Miles. In full: Really enjoyable day, Thanks all who organised, Tough first 4 miles but none of the hills are that long so not quite as hard as i had feared and you can really catch some time up between miles 4-9 if you can keep something in the tank! In short: Tough climb for 1st half In full: An uphill climb for the first half of the race followed by a fast downhill for all but the last mile where it steadily climbs again. Very well marshalled with marshalls at all road junctions and a very friendly atmosphere. Finishers get a bottle of Brampton Brewery beer and a t-shirt. If I can psych myself up for the challenging first half I would do it again but it's not a PB potential course. Overall I enjoyed the experience though :) Date of review: August 27, 2012
In short: Absolutely loved it. It ain't flat but it's a total gem. In full: Friendly, well organised, brilliant atmosphere....I could go on. Those early miles are tough but scenery is excellent & downhill wild in parts. A pb is very unlikely but why bother about a pb for this distance. Just enjoy it! definitely plan to return for next year. Race is a bargain with a t shirt and bottle of beer at finish. Marshalls, you did a great job & were very supportive & encouraging. Thank You Date of review: September 8, 2011
In short: Well organised In full: A very well organised race with good marshalling. First half is a bit hilly! But the second half seems to be all down hill bar the last mile so times can be picked up. A foot injury preventing me from racing it but I'll be back next year to give it a better go! Very nice to get a bottle of beer as well as a tee shirt. Date of review: September 1, 2011
In short: Tough In full: As people have siad the first half is really hilly especially between miles 3 and 4. 2nd half there is a long, long downhill section - only problem was excrutiating stitch which stopped me in my tracks for a minute or two. Steady jog back into it and i made it to the end in a decent time. Water stations were good, marshalls were good, race was good! Date of review: August 30, 2011
In short: Hilly but friendly and well organised, as is all the NE Derbyshire events. In full: Firsts 4 miles relentless hills, downhill for the rest with a bit of flat, finishing with a tough 1.5 mile finish. 4th year on the trot doing this race and still struggle with the last 1.5 miles, still pleased with my time as its the fastest I've done it by 3 minutes! In short: Tough first half, negative split second! In full: The first 4 miles were very tough and I had to walk most of the hills. I was glad that I saved a bit of energy, because from 5 miles onwards it was flat-ish with some nice downhills too.
Not too warm, sufficient drinks stations, loads of friendly marshals and St Johns ambulance all made it a solid, well-organised race.
Best bits were finishing and then handing my shocked and delighted husband the bottle of ale memento - a really special prize.
Thanks North Derbys. Date of review: August 29, 2011
In short: love it In full: it is tough with hills over the first few miles before it goes down. i aim to do it in under 80 mins, when i do i often go portsmorth and get a PB. My wife is expecting our first child on the 26th Aug and has said i can run it!!! spoke to the organiser who has said it should be ok for me to enter on the day, how is that for service.
