In short: A PB -but no water at finish left me gasping In full: What a shame -had a great run round a nice route but -no water at finish as others have mentioned and an empty goodie bag??? And please move all the huddled up bunch of spectators away from the corner that you turn into the finishing field -I had to run round them and into the road to get in-don;t really want that when you have already run 13 miles. In short: Expensive...and no water at end :( In full: Great race, but very expensive parking, and NO WATER at the end was absolutely appalling. They surely knew how many entrants there were, therefore have this amount of bottles of water at the end, simple eh? I was going to die from thirst but a very, very kind runner who had some water in his bottle kindly gave me the remains. Terrible...the organisers should be ashamed of themselves. In short: Poor organisation let it down In full: Making a profit from the car park is a poor start, ran out of water at the end which is a disgrace, no energy drink on the course which had been promised, ran out of finishers medals (how can you possibly be so dis-orgaanised to not have enough finishers medals?), ran out of goody bags. Lack of atmosphere at start and finish. On the plus side it was well signposted (hardly a whole hearted endorsement of an event).
I would strongly suggest doing an alternative event to this one unless the organisation is improved.
I did see elsewhere in the comments talk of hope that the entry fee etc goes to a 'good cause' I think there is a misconception generally that events are run by charities. gernerally they're not, and as commercial organisations they need to deliver on their promises when people are paying for a service. In short: PB heaven! In full: This is the third year I've ran this and achieved a PB on two of them (would have been three had it not been for that cruel head-wind last year). The marshalling was an improvement and there seemed to be more support out and about on the route. I thought the £3 parking fee was a bit of a cheek after the costly entry fee - I just hope it's going to a good cause. Very enjoyable race and will certainly return again next year! In short: Disappointed In full: This is my 3rd time here, and definitely my worst experience. Long wait for the loos, long lecture about ipods, no high-5 at the 6-mile drink station (though it said in the letter there would be - and the lady just looked at me blankly and shook her head when I asked for some) - I was relying on that energy drink, and suffered needlessly! - and of course, no water at the finish. This is on top of the expensive entry and a £3 charge to park in a field. This had been my favourite race because it was flattish, but I won't be coming next year. Date of review: May 20, 2012

In short: Enjoyed the race but no water at the end In full: I thought the race was good, scenery mostly lovely and seemed to go quite quickly. I thought the drink stations were placed well and at the right time and the marshall and spectator support was good. However I cannot believe that there was no water at the end if you finished around the 2hr mark. I think this is totally unacceptable and would have been a nightmare if we were having proper May weather. Maybe they should spend less time worrying about iPods and more time on getting the essentials right. Otherwise a good experience. Date of review: May 20, 2012

In short: Always enjoy this event but being charged £3 to park really wound me up! In full: I'm very loyal to this event, have done it 9 times now and it was my first half-marathon. I think we're on the third crew of orgainisers now; surely there can't be that many lessons to learn running the same event each year, but still there are mess-ups. The first 2 or times I did this the council ran it and it was simple and will-organised. The traffic is always an issue, it irritates me that so much water is wasted (use cups, not bottles) and charging £3 for parking (first time this year) on top of £26 entry fee is bang out of order. It cost me £8 to enter in 2004; that's quite a hike. All that said and done, I love the run and will stick with it, but I wish the lessons coulf be learnt once and for all. In short: Water water everywhere... In full: Lets get the gripe out of the way early... IMHO it is unforgivable to run out of water at the finish. Rather ironic for somewhere prone to flooding! After about 1:55mins finish time there was nothing. I can excuse the goody bag not having any eats/drinks but to not have water? This has happened before at Tewkes and i thought the organisation was improving, but alas!
Positives - Flat course, not oversubscribed, greenery scenery, near my house :o)

In short: The good PB potential will bring me back In full: Good flat course for fast times and decent sized field. Thanks to all the organisers, marshals etc. Couple of points for next year: Not great value compared with other races, not much in goody bag and seemed a bit unfair to pay for parking in a field on top of race entry. Could do with more toilets at the start. Unlike previous poster I was handed a bottle of water at the end though. All in all the flat and reasonably nice course is the main attraction. In short: Good race with PB potential but missing the little touches In full: I actually enjoyed the busier/industrial parts more than some other reviewers because there was plenty of support. Pretty countryside near the half way point made up for the lack of specatators but miles 10 and 11 lacked either the scenery or the support to help keep you going when it got tough. You always feel more warm and fluffy about a race if you're happy with your time but objectively I'd say the organisation could do with a bit more thought and needs to take on board some of the more consistently mentioned issues in the reveiws. There were insufficient toilets - I nearly missed the start of the race! There were no half marathon medals left by the time I finished (surely you would know approximately how many entrants you can expect at the end?) so I had to make do with a 5 mile one from the fun run! As others have said, the goody bag was completely rubbish but I'm never that bothered about them anyway (though a little snack may have been a nice gesture after such a distance). Thank you to the pockets of enthusiastic supporters and the lovely lady who was handing out cookies at the end - they were delicious!! Date of review: May 20, 2012
