In short: Beautiful countryside run that bites with some brutal hills
In full: This was a fun race, not too busy and with nice support from locals. The scenary is really lovely - lots of birds of prey, horses, cows, autumn colours etc. It was my first half marathon so pretty tough considering the hills. I found the downhills actually much harder than going up, and I really don't think this run would be as fun if it was raining.
One to avoid if you have runner's knee aggravated by going down hill but a nice challenge all the same. Perhaps not so aimed at fun runners / charity runners but worth the effort.

In short: Great event, especially if you like hills...
In full: Fantastic scenery, great marshals, one hellish hill. Only race I've run where Guy Fawkes was the starter - runners only allowed to start when the firework lit by Mr Fawkes goes bang

In short: Hilly & fun!
In full: Hills that humble the best of legs. Downhills to get your quads burning and uphills to challenge your mettle!

In short: Great organisation & scenery to enjoy whilst you take on the hills!
In full: Fantastic organisation and the marshalls on course were amongst the best I've encountered at any race. There's plenty of nice scenery to take in whilst you're zipping along the lanes but save a bit for the hills which are tough. 1st time I've done this race and I'd really recommend it. And finally, to the marshall at c.9miles who thanked me for travelling to the race, you're very welcome, it was a pleasure!

In short: Ow!.. My calves!..
In full: Lovely run through the quite lanes on a Sunday morning, with a sprinkling of hills (both up and down) thrown in. I personally found the up hills challenging but not the worse I have come acroos, but the down hills were aggresive and very long. I had to run with my breaks on (so to speak) and so ended up straining my calves, which took away any thought of a sprint finish on the last mile or so to the finish.

I have now invested in some calf supports and so will see how it goes.

Well done Marlow Striders. Well appreciated the support and water etc, but would have liked a mars bar at the end. :-)

In short: Very well organised race yet again
In full: Despite being a tough course the scenary and variation makes this a great course. Marshalling is excellent. This time they took over the whole town centre to guide people to the car parks.

In short: fantastic course with a sting or two in the tail.
In full: Easy breezy organisation and hassle free pre-race made up for the never-ending hill at the start. Thoroughly professional and utterly stress free. Clearly they have done this before, and it shows. Then it was undulating country roads with great views across open fields for the next 11 miles, with the challenge of a couple of really steep ascents and descents to sap your legs and remove any pressure to try for a PB. For the price, I would have expected a better quality T-shirt AND/OR a medal, but this in only a minor grizzle. The bacon butties on sale at the finish were divine. If you haven't already done it, put it on your list.

In short: Great race, very challenging. Not one for PBs!
In full: Very demanding race. I know it was going to be hilly, but it seemd that the course was 75% uphill - the downward sections were steep and wrecked my knees.
Great marshalling, very well organised.
Shame there was no medal at the end - given those hills I felt I had deserved it.
A message for anyone who did this as their first half marathon - don't be put off - they are not all like this!

In short: Brutal hills but superb organization and scenery - a proper rewarding challenge.
In full: I must congratulate the marshalls who provided magnificent encouragement the whole way round this punishing course. When the walkers are outpacing the runners up the hills, you know they are seriously steep, but the cameraderie kept everybody going and the downhill finish was exhilirating. The best HM in the local calendar!
