In short: Tough course. In full: Back to run after a three year gap, didn't remember it being so difficult. The canal part was fine though, but the hills (short, sharp shocks). Really know you have completed a half-marathon when you have finished this one. Will be back next year and would recommend this to anyone. Date of review: April 6, 2009

In short: Great way to spend a sunday morning... In full: Looking around it did feel quite 'clubby' at the start, but friendly. As a first time Baildon Boundarian I thought the route was great. Just the right mix of terrain, scenery, long flat stretches & hills. Off-road the ground was perfectly soft but not boggy.
I'd like to come back next year. Just hope I'm as lucky weather-wise!
Thanks to all involved including the great marshals (& the walkers who offered support to runners).

In short: Great organisation, great course. In full: Really enjoyed this race. The weather was glorious and the organisation was superb. If you fancy doing an off-road (mainly*) half-marathon then I would definitely recommend this. The course is mostly quite flat with one long hill and a couple of short ones. I'll definitely be back next year. *There was a surprising amount of tarmac in the first three miles. Date of review: April 6, 2009

In short: Brutal Boundary Way! In full: My first off road half and there is no mistaking that elements of this are extremely tough, especially for someone as mal-cordinated as me! As it happens, I actually only fell over once so I was pretty pleased! Some aspects were easy, especially along the canal, but the wooded areas were very unstable underfoot and you had to pay full attention where you were putting your feet. A local chap warned me about the 9 mile point and God, he wasn't exagerating, the hill through the woods and then to get through there only to face the uphill slog on the treacherous moorland. Sadistic is an understatement. Thankfully it was relatively dry underfoot. I can't fathom how people have managed when it's been wet. All that said it was a very enjoyable course. Despite a rubbish finishing time, I felt a real sense of acheivement when I finally made it to the finish line, even with that last uphill section and steps to conquer. I thought the bum bag and the well earned bottle of wine were good mementos. My only slight criticism is that bottled water would have been a better touch at the end as a plastic cup didn't really quench my thirst after all that effort. Will be in my diary for next year - weather permitting! Date of review: April 6, 2009

In short: really pretty course, really achey legs! In full: Good mixture of scenery and terrain - woodland, moors, canal towpaths oh yeah and one of the biggest sewerage farms i've ever seen! Some biggish hills, but made tougher by the terrain (quite muddy in places) Was a really slow race for me - but was a good course, and reckon i'll be back next year Date of review: April 7, 2008

In short: Fantastic race (even for us walkers) In full: Its a tough course and I don't think its suitable for beginners! How the runners do it I don't know?! It was nice to see that the runners (maybe only one's not competing for prizes) thanked us when we moved aside for them and they also cheered us on! Course is challenging but great fun. Would have preferred a t-shirt but the mug looks great on my desk at work. Not so sure I liked the fact that they started packing up before everyone finished though! Date of review: April 7, 2008

In short: A varied terrain makes for a fun run In full: Great weather this yr, a sunny interval between the hail and snow was very welcome - though made it hard to know what to wear. The marshalls were great - kept you well on track and words of encouragement. I preferred the mug to a t-shirt as last years was a horrible colour (personal opinion) and lives in the bottom of my drawer. Start was a bit of a jostle, not sure why so many people wanted to go so fast up that first hill ! Date of review: April 6, 2008

In short: A challenging 1/2 M not for the faint hearted! In full: The start could have been better marked i was told the start was at the top not at the bottom. I know it is a hard job collated all the results and the presentation was held up by 45 mins which seemed a bit chaotic. Could have been better organised overall. A map of the actual route would online would have been very helpful, i am not local and travelled 60 miles to this race. Overall a very scenic tough route which i would do again!! Would prefer a tshirt to a mug though this would be a shirt to show off from time to time!! Date of review: April 6, 2008

In short: Good fun, beautiful scenery + picturesque sewage works, the boggy run across the moors was energy-sapping. One negative: first water station immediately before a metal gate/stile mean you couldn't get the water down while climbing. Date of review: April 6, 2008
