In short: Are you up for a toughie!?
In full: I loved this, and now ache! I do half marathons fairly regularly and this one was a real challenge. Lots of rain meant it was more like a mud runner challenge, but with or without the rain it is a tough race. Go for it!

In short: Almost made it to the coveted last place
In full: It's all been already mentioned: frequent water stations, jaffa cakes and jelly babies, extremely friendly marshals and fellow runners, the goat, the jester and "the mud the likes of which you have never seen". Just get wet and muddy at once to save yourself the trouble of avoiding the puddles — you will get wet anyway!

In short: Super steep ascents, joint crunching descents, ankle breaking mud and flooded paths. What is there not to like. Fantastic fun atmosphere and I finished with a new personal worst but without cardiac arrest so success.

In short: Climbing up hills and sliding down 'streams' - tough but great!
In full: This is a very special race with a great atmosphere throughout. Quite the contrary to 'commercial' mass events of some city road races. Highly recommended for its off-road trails and beautiful scenery. The hills are extremely tough, from that point of view it's not really 'beginner-friendly'. This year's flooding made the route particularly muddy, at some part almost boggy. Even harder than last year! Marshals very friendly and encouraging, and the jester on the hill-top is epic.

In short: Hilliest, hardest, best half marathon I've run to date
In full: Absolutely loved this, the route takes you through some fantastic countryside with stunning views, organisation was absolutely excellent, marshals, organisers, runnrs all really friendly and fun. The joker at the top of the hill was particularly outstanding as was one of the gradient of one of the hills. Hilliest, hardest, best half marathon i've run to date.... loved it.

In short: "The Grim" on steroids! But muddier, with lots of steep hills thrown into the mix! Good fun!
In full: Even without all the mud and large puddles, this race would have been a serious challenge with the hills. I train on hills regularly but there were still several lung-bursting moments! The marshals were hugely supportive, as was the jester, and the goat was a great comedic touch, particularly when he was being dragged unwilling across the carpark prior to the start!I felt a little the same way myself having driven through so much water to get there, but I am so glad I toughed out the race. Well worth it!
