In short: My trainers will never be white again! Fantastically mud-packed!
In full: I loved this race. Despite my woe at the 6.45am start to get there, this race made my New Year's Eve.

The organisation was fantastic, the organisers were really friendly and the young helpers made me feel like I'd won Olympic gold when I crossed the finish line.

I felt a bit of a mug in my normal trainers, especially when running - or trying to stay upright - through the patches of clay and mud. I think trail shoes are a must-buy for next time - and a clean pair of shoes in the car for the drive home!

This was one of the most enjoyably challenging races I have done, maybe because at times it was like running through quicksand. This one will be on my calendar every year.

In short: running in chocolate cake
In full: I thought the orgsnisation was outstanding and with a half dozen more toilets would have been perfect. The two courses (10k and 10m) mingling and separating several times was handled very well. Extremely muddy (not Grim obstacle race muddy of course) and very challenging (with a tummy full of mince pies!)
Looking forward to 2012 (p.s. like the early start time as well)

In short: Mud, hills, mince pies and mulled wine.
In full: A tough but fair multi-terrain 10 miler on mildly undulating roads, fields and footpaths. The roads are quiet, the fields muddy (in 2011), and the footpaths muddier still!

The 10m takes place at the same time as the 10k, and the courses separate and re-join several times - so make sure you pay attention to the signs and marshals!
