In short: Challenging - up and down. In full: A good friendly race. Very tough conditions; Blustery and cold. Made it a good challenge and thankfully the rain didn't start until most people had finished. Well done Deal tri.
The only negative was the threatening note from Fowlmead to pay for parking even though their machines weren't working. Surprised that they didn't waive the parking charge given all the extra visitors they got. Date of review: February 11, 2013
In short: Very enjoyable race despite the weather In full: As always, Deal Tri staged this event really well. The location is idea , with plenty of parking and the quiet road is ideal as a start/ finish location. The course is very scenic but the hills mean its more one for relishing the views and the challenge than going for a PB. Yesterday's weather, cold and very windy, certainly added to the challenge and real credit is due to the excellent marshalls who remained amazingly cheerful and supportive despite the bitter cold that they were having to stand around in. All in all an event that maintains its high standard each year - and at least the weather held off so that the race happened at first time of asking this year Date of review: February 11, 2013
In short: Challenging but definitely worth it! In full: A big thank you to all the lovely marshals today, they were very supportive and encouraging all the way round!! Was tough but very enjoyable! Loved the Snickers bar at the end... my favourite! If you like a challenge you'll love this one! Date of review: February 10, 2013
In short: Race had its ups and downs. In full: Thanks to all the marshals for standing in the cold and their encouragement. Could have been worse, as I write this at 4pm its snowing. Thanks to Steve from Deal Tri for his praise in the last 200M. I was looking forward to a mug at the finish but got a medal, never mind most welcome. Loved the ups and downs. And thanks to all tha medics who were on standby. Will do this again next year. Date of review: February 10, 2013
In short: Good Race In full: I would like to congratulate Deal Tri on yet another good race, and ask you to say thank you to all the marshals who did not just stand there and point they gave some fantastic encouragement to runners at all stages, a job that is not easy to fill and especially with the wintery conditions Date of review: February 10, 2013
In short: If hills aren't your friends, at least the marshalls are! In full: Ok, so we were warned about 3 hills - I think they must have missed the other 5!! It was a pretty tough course but there were long gradual downhills as well as the painful ups! The marshaling and drink stations were fantastic though and REALLY gave you a boost when it was needed - likewise the guy calling out split times at half way was great (and accurate due to the small field of runners) - and the marshals with number list able to call out your name was an especially nice touch.. I wouldn't do it again but am glad it was attacked a few weeks after the marathon to show me what I had left in my legs! I did manage a PB but would not recommend for newer runners as it can get to you when the runners split up and you're going up hill alone if you prefer a bit of buzz - equally the last runner came in at 2:30hrs so this should give a benchmark to decide if you will run it or not! If after the above you still want to challenge yourself - good luck! Lovely scenic course, great team putting it together but a little too hilly for my personal liking! Date of review: May 15, 2012
In short: Not a hill fan, so probably just as well I didn't realise there were so many. In full: I'm the person you normally see walking up hills toward the end of a race, so this one was a challenge. Marshalls on hills aswell as junctions was a nice touch though and kept me plodding along. Definately not a pb course (unless you only run hilly courses), but definitely worth the effort.
