In short: Glorious rolling hills, woodland, fields and paths In full: Splendid setting from Polesden and a well thought-out route which stays completely off-road. A good variety of terrain, nothing hazardous. Despite the miserable media weather people the conditions proved just right: some sun and cloud to enhance the scenery, temperature just right for running and a breeze but no strong wind as you were largely protected by the trees. I can't appreciate why some runners seem concerned for distance markers or whether the route is exactly 10km; does that really matter, why not just let go and enjoy the running/scenery? The route is fine! Date of review: June 24, 2013
In short: Fantastic event, great route, well pleased with my time In full: If your looking for. Great trail race, look no further. Amazing woodland trails with a lovely mix of up and down. Challenging enough for your die hard runners but would be ok for your first timers. My garmin measured the distance spot on so I'm well pleased with my time of just over 42 mins. Will be going back next year to try go faster!!!! Date of review: June 24, 2013
In short: I beat the hills...Just! In full: I had read a few reviews on this race from last year so I knew it would be hilly but they were tough! My only issue was no distance markers but apart from that a great bit of bling at the end and stuning surroundings. Apologies to the bloke at the end who tried giving me a medal but I did just needed to puke after that sprint finish.... that I lost! Date of review: June 24, 2013
In full: Where were the mile markers? My only criticism, to what was otherwise a very well organised and marshaled event. Description should say 'Hilly', rather than 'Undulating' in my opinion. Biggest medal yet! Prompt race results and useful pre-race emails. I will do this event again but do some hill training beforehand! Date of review: June 24, 2013
In short: Cracking Day Out In full: The weather held off, the run route was glorious. The marshalls very cheery. The runners were happy. Very nice Sunday morning run. The tracks were pretty decent and some great views.
My Garmin measured 10.05 km so Kevin I suggest you send yours back to Garmin as faulty. Or maybe understand fractals and why plotting straight lines between points rather than the radius results in a shorter measurement.
TriJim - the organisers allow changes up to 2-weeks before the event normally. It is clearly published. Note most other races (VLM etc) don't allow changes at all - ever!
Sometimes people complain about relatively trivial stuff. I got a Mars at the end of the run but would have preferred a KitKat with Champagne, and a helicopter ride of the route - but I didn't complain about it. Date of review: June 24, 2013
In short: Lovely route, a few good hills and not too crowded. In full: Very well marshalled, plenty of water stops with gels if needed. Despite overnight rain the course stayed firm with only a couple of soft patches. Someone complained their Garmin indicated the course was shorter than 10k, sat navs miss bits in dense woodland and don't account for the hills. Date of review: June 24, 2013
