In short: A relatively gentle introduction to HMs
In full: I agree with earlier comments about the staeting points relating to anticipated end times not being obvious - I didn't see them at all. This meant I probably held up a few people and got swept along for the first three miles. I paid for it at about eight miles!! Having said that, the atmosphere was brilliant - better (I thought) than the much larger Bupa Manchester 10k, which was my first organised rave last year.
The marshalls were absolutely fantastic - lots of them and all incredibly encouraging. A BIG thank you to all of them.
Water - I desperately needed a bottle of water, the cups just weren't sufficient as to get any decent amount down you do have to stop. I did take my own sports drink with me, but all I wanted was WATER!!!!
Great, fast finish. Photos and timings all available really, really quickly. Just a brilliant experience all round and by gum did I enjoy that Mars bar??

In short: Nicely organised race with a cheeky little slope at the end
In full: The only gripe I have is with the cups of water that I found impossible to get down my neck.
A really nice race with a good atmosphere (although some of the supporters could do with a smile!). The scenery was good and it was lovely to have lots of bends to hide what was ahead.

In short: Very well organised race and definate PB potential
In full: Only minor grumble is that I would prefer water in bottles as I find it impossible to drink out of cups when I am running hard. Everything else was brilliant.

In short: Great organisation and atmosphere as usual
In full: Fantastic atmosphere and organisation. Fast course, the flat course encouraged me to start fast and I wobbled at 9ish miles but I ended up with a new pb beating my previous one of 6 years! Bacon butties in the club house after - what more could you wish for?!

In short: A Race ....... Not a run
In full: The English Half Marathon Championships - Time Limit 2Hrs 35 minutes. My first WHM. Perfect conditions for a fast race, but unfortunately I started too far back not wanting to get in the way of the faster runners. If only that were the case, too many people talking a good race instead of getting on with it! People running in two's & three's across the narrow lanes, swaying back and forth listening to iPods and Gizmo's. I Spent the whole race overtaking! Anyway rant over... The marshalls were excellent throughout, the warm support from the spectators was well received, the goodie bag was great and I did manage a PB by 2minutes. I'll be back! (and be standing nearer the front) ps. Question: How many races have you done where they give out bottled water during the race? In the last twelve months, (25 races) just one and the water was from the sponsors. Buy a water bottle and put whatever you want in it.

In short: 1st time here 3rd one overall and best so far. PB by 8 mins helps! Lovely atmosphere friendly crowds only gripe wife and kids found it difficult to watch finish. Will be back next year.

In short: One of my all time favourite races. Great organisation and a great goody bag. Great atmosphere and good potential for a pb if you're fit!
