In short: Mud, medals, mud and did I mention the mud? Great fun In full: So my daughter and I trekked down from chigwell to take part in this race. It was our third race since we started training for our marathon later this year.
We chose it because it's hilly and looked like fun
It was hilly
It was so muddy
It was so much fun
I have to say I've not enjoyed a race as much as this one. I was particularly impressed by the other runners.
I'm a slow runner. I was overtaken a lot. The elite runners (certainly the first five or six and many of the rest) gave me an encouraging 'well done mate' it a 'good work'
This is excellent and made the race very special indeed
The race was well organised and a lot of fun during the run.
It was very well marshalled and getting a medal at the end is always nice
The course is excellent and although muddy is fun
I'm certainly doing it next year Date of review: January 26, 2014
In short: Tough but great fun In full: The marshalls were great, the organisation was excellent and it was tough but really enjoyable. Was muddy on the first lap but much worse by the third and some of those hills seemed almost vertical. Thoroughly recommended Date of review: January 26, 2014
In short: Hilly and slippery In full: A very tough hilly course with the weather causing it to be muddy and very slippery in places. The organisers where very informative in the build up to the race via email and social media which was great because of recent adverse weather putting the race in doubt. Would have been nice to have more going on in the area before and after the race to create a bit more of an atmosphere but all in all a great race on a historic course
In short: Oh My Goodness! A very hard course but great fun. In full: I had set my sights on finding a local race to be my very first 10k, Hadleigh Park is local, i can do 10k on the road so i signed up thinking all would be great. I think had i have known just how hilly, muddy, exhausting and challenging it was going to be i might have sacked it off. But im so glad i didnt, i started and came in close to he back of the pack but although i had plenty of moments wondering what on earth i had done doing this as a first race, i was totally stoked to finish, the best feeling ever to know that i made such a hard race my first, and still weeks down the line I still bore anyone who will listen about my achievement. Cant wait to do it again next year, great organisation, a real buzz, great fun and and thoroughly recommended (with a bit of hill practice in advance!) Date of review: February 17, 2013
In short: Challenging In full: What a fantastically challenging and enjoyable 10k race. I loved every bit of it, especially the steep hills and climbing over those rocks. Fantastic helpful Marshals, thanks again guys. Can’t wait till next year, hope it’s on again. Date of review: January 30, 2013
In short: Very Challenging but worth doing - good for hill training In full: Views were great if you could see and not looking down to see where you were running. Due to the weather it was very muddy and slippery, so not good for a pb. Great for hill training though and to say that you have run on the Olympic mountain bike course is great. Marshalls were great, friendly and helpful, one of the best. I hope to do it next year. Date of review: January 29, 2013
In short: Mountain bike courses are best left to mountain bikes :) In full: I jest of course, whilst that was a very challenging course, it was thoroughly enjoyable with excellent marshals and I would definitely do it again!! Date of review: January 28, 2013
