In short: 3rd time I've done it, brilliant! In full: Market Drayton is my home town and for the past 3 years I have brought several runners from my Manchester based running club to do it (despite the fact it clashed with the Great Manchester Run this year too). They love it. The goody bag is legendary.
The central town is pretty, but is only small and you run through it fairly quickly, but I like that it runs through residential areas as this means the entire route has spectators cheering - half of them I haven't seen for 20 years but am in no position to stop for a chat!!!
The flexibility of the organisers to transfer race numbers shows pure commitment and I hope this never changes. A few of our runners had to pull out last minute but we were able to transfer all the numbers at short notice to other runners in our club, which must have been manic for the organisers but great for the town and the race. I have never come across such accommodating race organisers.
The carnival atmosphere on the school field makes it a great family day out for those who have partners and children who think they've lost a loved one to running. My nephew even ran in one of the kids races this year.
I think you've gathered that I like this race and would recommend it. Date of review: May 13, 2015
In short: best goodies bag, the streets were packed with supporters, In full: The fun run was well organized for the children before the main race. With plenty of time for parents to prepare for the 10K. Real community event with the towns youth organizations assisting the adults also. Scouts, Army cadets and Guides, Organisation is amazing. I am booking early as both main event and fun run sold out early this year. Date of review: May 12, 2015
In short: Very well organised, great friendly atmosphere & awesome goody bag In full: This is the 2nd year I have run this 10k and I was not disappointed. This year it was a family day out with my 2 children in the fun run, whilst me, my Mum & Auntie ran in the 10k. Lots to keep the children entertained with a bouncy castle and rides. The medal & t-shirt are great. I have already entered for next year. Date of review: May 12, 2015
In short: Brilliant - just do it! In full: Really great race - well organised and enjoyable. Wonderful free pics courtesy of Bryan Dale - great quality too. Couldn't be improved on but tweaks I would add would be a) try not to run out of loo paper during the day! b) The last minute stand in phsios were great but it wasn't clear quite how that worked (donation to charity) c) More seats for spectators. Keep up the great work Date of review: May 12, 2015
In short: The best race bar none. Fantastic. In full: This was my 9th year in a row running it and yet again I was amazed that it topped the year before. Better medal, t shirt, the crowd were amazing, the marshalls fantastic and the goody bag to die for. overall very proud of everyone who helped make this race simply the best.
