In short: Fantastic race for any ability In full: This is a fantastic course for all abilities as it is super flat! Would recommend to any of those chasing a PB or newbies alike.
Masses of updates which I loved - some did not, but I guess they're the people who ignored the information and asked questions already answered. Chip and bib sent in the post as well, I like to be prepared rather than pick it up on the day.
Around 2000 runners braved horrific conditions to run this and it sold out very quickly, which says how highly it is rated. Think its one of the top rated races by RW readers(?)The rain meant the race was slightly delayed due to lateness of some runners. Also, this meant the half way time was not held and was simply a clock, which was a shame but did not have an effect.
Still quite a lot of people out supporting considering the weather, which was good to see. Good finish in the stadium and on to the goody bag...holy moly I have never been so impressed!
To be greeted with the choice of a chocolate or lemon muffin at the finish line was great (very tasty), in the bag was a t-shirt, medal, galaxy chocolate bar, bag of golden wonder crisps, vouchers and reflective armband. This is in addition to water and Lucozade! Don't think I missed anything? Anyway, fantastic value and shows other half marathons up and that they could do more if sourced correctly.
Only gripe is the running on the grass was a little unsafe but if it was warm and dry like it should be at the start of May it would be perfect! PB for me by the way as well, would have been quicker too if it wasn't for the weather and wanting to save myself for Leeds Half.
Has to be my joint favourite race, great work guys and massive thanks to organisers, helpers and volunteers! Date of review: May 5, 2015
In short: Wet Half marathon In full: Wettest day ive ever ran in. event was realy well organised.volunteres fantastic. will defo make it one i do each year, great stadium finish. shame about weather cant have everything. Brilliant well done. Date of review: May 5, 2015
In short: Weather made it hard work but can't knock the organisation In full: I'm not at my best but 1.28 last year and 1.33 this year tells a story about the conditions. The only weakness with this event is the distance from the HQ to the start and the driving rain, wind and cold did expose this weakness this year. By the time the delayed start happened I was, despite my bin bag, chilly and wet through. As always the volunteers gave their all and lifted the spirits - you guys should all get a medal. The finish is uplifting and the goodie bag/medal/shirt of a high standard. Date of review: May 5, 2015
In short: Well organised race, ideal for a first Half In full: Really well organised race with an excellent goody bad as a reward. The only let down was the weather, but all the marshalls were still smiling and keeping everyone motivated. Excellent!!! Date of review: May 5, 2015
In short: Wet! Wonderful! Well organised and the best marshals ever! In full: My first half marathon and couldn't have picked a better one. Flat course, plenty of drinks stations, jelly baby station and so many friendly and supportive marshals. Great finish in football stadium made it feel really special. Followed by cake and massage. Fantastic! Date of review: May 5, 2015
In short: This race is excellent. The organisation, communication, marshalling and venue were all superb. Having pace runners was great and helped me to set a new PB destroying the old one in the process! Weather awful but still plenty of smiles!! Date of review: May 4, 2015
