In short: OK, the start was a bit of a mess, but not bad for an awful day In full: Didn't feel as well organised as last year, but it was still OK. It's a pretty challenging course with some stiff hills. Not sure I'll do again, as done it twice now. Thanks to the marshalls and organisers who braved the grim weather Date of review: November 19, 2007

In short: Good challenging course but last 2 miles a challenge into the wind! In full: Great course with a couple of good hills to challenge you. The start was a bit messy, I wasn't sure where the actual start was and the last hundred metres or so could have been better route-wise - tight corners, parked cars and a finish just after a tight bend, there wasn't a finish line as such so you weren't sure if the clock had stopped at the first set of mats or second. In short: Really enjoyed this, great organisation, interesting race - the hills at the end add spice - better than Clumber, Sheffield Lord Mayors and BUPA Great Yorkshire - well done Barnsley! Date of review: November 18, 2007

In short: The start & finish and the car parking could have been better but everyone seemed friendly enoughh In full: Just a couple of minor niggles. It was difficult to know when & where the start was - my own time is c30 secs different to the official one. Also the finish was slightly confusing - was it the 1st or 2nd mat and the chip removal should could have been further down the funnel. The lack of a car parking marshall early on when the top car park was full was a slight annoyance However everyone seemed friendly enough especially towards the end & another hill appeared and the atmosphere during the race was ok. The T Shirt provides a nice reminder of the event and I will probably be back next year though Date of review: November 18, 2007

In short: Great race - some uphill but lots of down to go with it In full: Great race, there are one or two tricky uphill parts but there's plenty of down hill to make up for it.
Pretty well organised and good value for money. My only complaint was the start which was a farce, but this didn't spoil what was a good day in barnsley. Date of review: November 18, 2007

In short: Enjoyable Sunday Morning Challenge In full: This was my first ever "race" and as such I turned up with some trepidation, but this wasn't warranted. I was scared running past the Coking plant - if every hill had been like that I'd have proper struggled - but it turned out to be a good challenge for this complete novice. Very good organisation, both at the start, energetic and enthusiastic marshalling and at the end made it a very enjoyable Sunday morning despite the cold weather. Thoroughly enjoyed myself and will be back. PB and an all time favourite race - but then it has to be doesn't it, seeing as how it was my first! Date of review: November 18, 2007

In short: bobbins! In full: very blustery and cold day, one marshall was supportive, no baggage bay (told that my bag was left at my own risk)no showers.the start was a sham as were just walking along and then we were told by the way the race had started! bobbins get it sorted! In short: Directions from the motorway very poor, start very starnge! countryside good! In full: The weather was poor but that is not the fault of anyone. However, directions to the race may as well have been non existent. Facilities at race venue were goo and it was easy to get your 'chip' with helpful stewards. The civic hall was a good base and parking (if you got there early) was not a problem. The start was very strange, this is my 4th 10k run, with nobody really saying when or where it actually started! The course was challenging at stages, especially after four and half miles. Enjoyed the experinece and did manage a PB just over 42 minutes. (Thank you to the lady in all black who kept me going with an impressive pace!) The finish was OK and the people helping with the timing and t-shirts were good. All in all good race just need a better start! Date of review: November 18, 2007

In short: good challenging first race, very hilly. everyonr very friendly In full: This was my first race and the event was well sign posted, easy to park and very quick registration. I enetered the race with two other people but they did not attend so i was left to run alone. At the start line people were friendly enough, but during race everyone was concentrating on their running as expected so i was running alone and was glad i tock my ipod. i enjoyed the run and was very much challenged with the hilly course. The stewards were excellent gearing you up as you past. i was very glad to finish at a reasonable time and with plenty of people behind me and will keep my t-shirt for the reminder. A good all round fun and challenging race that i will be doing again next year. Date of review: November 18, 2007
