In short: My first 1/2 off road and it was glorious! In full: Thanks to all those involved in organising this event and for making my first time over 13.1 miles off road so enjoyable. Loved the down hills and the ups weren't as bad as I was expecting; then again I was expecting the worst. I would have liked a clock at the finish line (yes I kow I should have worn a decent watch but I didn't...doh), but apart from that I couldn't fault the day. Will I be back? Certainly, although maybe next year I'll do the whole 26.2...gulp! Date of review: May 2, 2006

In short: Aptly subtitled 'The tough one', but you have to do it! In full: Good marshalling, thank you. Friendly people near the back of the field made the last 10 miles less painful! Date of review: May 2, 2006

In short: Excellent. The best race I've done in a long time. In full: Despite what I had heard about last time, I found it well organised. The scenery couldn't be bettered in this part of the country, and the hills are hard but not impossible. A great day out. Date of review: May 1, 2006

In short: A good race last year was spoilt a little by inadequate marshalling. The organisers obviously took the criticism on board, and the marshalling, as far as I could see, was excellent. Much enjoyed. Date of review: May 1, 2006

In short: Organisers provided extra marshalls and signs - huge improvement. In full: Excellent job by the organisers and marshalls - though it did not make the "tough one" any easier.........see you next year ! Date of review: May 1, 2006

In short: 27.2 miles of climb - can't remember the downhills... In full: Superb race booked as an extra training run for my Charity Ultras. Proved to me that still not fit enough. Great weather, organisation and scenery. But the climbs seemed to be never ending. Thoroughly enjoyed the race and the great finishing medal,,,,, Date of review: May 1, 2006

In short: Excellent race, excellent scenary, excellent Marshalls In full: I live beside the South Downs and often run on the hills near my home. I hadn't appreciated firstly, how hilly some of the other areas are but secondly, what a lovely place it is. That said, this probably isn't the best way of discovering it! The race is advertised as the tough one because of the hills and certainly lived up to its' name. I think just over people took part, with the weather being cool and damp (at the start). The atmosphere was friendly, with all the runners happy to chat and encourage. Given that the run is over bridallways and paths, it would ordinarily have been easy to get lost. This was never a problem as the Rotary Club provided a good number of Marshalls to provide directions. Overall, an excellent and tough race - a very satisfying achievement. It would not have been as good without the great help by all the marshalls that were happy to sacrifice a Sunday for our folly. Date of review: May 1, 2006

In short: My first marathon - what a killer! My only adverse comment is that the road crossing just after the Adur bridge was a bit hairy, otherwise everything was great. Date of review: May 1, 2006
