In short: muddy, slippy, hilly, treacherous, brilliant!
In full: First time, but definitely not the last. Although I really don't like x-country at all, this race is such a great laugh that you forget the hills and the mud and a PB etc and just enjoy being out in the wild! Ok, the hills are tough, the steps at the end are cruel and the water crossing makes for a squelchy last mile or so but the organisation, support and atmosphere make this a great race that I will definitely do again. Next time in spikes....

In short: I curse all the way round, but come back every year - go figure!
In full: I can't help loving this race, it's cruel but unique. The steps are a real kick in the wotsits, and the stream is a challenge, but the trainer-sucking mud at 2k is the real killer. My Garmin measured this at 9.03k, did they screw up or did my watch have a senior moment? Pleast let me know, I did a PB by 4 minutes which is cracking, but I'm struggling to believe it thanks to the watch!?

In short: muddy, steep in some places, water crossing zaps your energy
In full: my first time,
positives -
good scenery, well marshalled, good spirits and support
bad points -
start line was ...well not a line, just a congregation around a post
really muddy in some places, spikes essential
