In short: My first marathon made special by great organisation and turnout
In full: This was my first marathon after five half-marathons, and did I find it tough! despite reasonable training, I found the undulations quite difficult as I couldn't get a rythmn. Unlike my two training routes which are both relatively flat, with moderate inclines on path and road, this was more bridleway and mudtrack on gentle but continuous rolling hills.
The organisation was fantastic, as were the crowds, I have never been so excited to see wet sponges!

In short: You wion't find better value than this event
In full: When you see prices for London events around £40 for 10k and other crazy prices you really can't fault £26/8 for a marathon.

It's a rural event and for long distances you will be out by yourself in the countryside and then you come to Pebmarsh and the support is amazing.

In one quiet corner there was a group of supporters, one lady playing a organ, one handing out sweets (this happens often along the route and the little touches like this really do make it special.

I've said I'd do it again but doubt I will as this was always planned to be one and only marathon but will without doubt come along and join in the support next year and help out anyway possible.

Essex can be proud to have Halstead as it's marathon.

In full: This is the second time I have run this marathon and I thoroughly enjoyed it despite the undulations. The marshals were very supportive with sweets on offer at several places and a mixture of drinks at the drink stations. The course was tough in places but the scenery and support made the challenge worthwhile. The goody bag at the end was the best I have had with a great selection of goodies plus a technical t shirt and a medal. Despite being a challenging course I managed a PB by over 5 minutes and was 20 minutes quicker than last year on the same race so was very happy!

In short: A Top Notch Event
In full: My first Halstead Marathon but definitely not my last. Undulating scenic course, cannot fault the organisation, parking arrangements, or the goody bag. With a p.b it's already gone in the diary for next year.

In short: Really well organised, very friendly and lovely route
In full: 8 of us from Ware Joggers ran this as a group and had a ball. The marshals and cadets at the water stations were really encouraging and helpful. Lovely little touches like the Mayor still giving out medals to even the slow runners make this a special marathon. Well done to everyone involved

In short: My new favourite event
In full: This is a race that totally lived up to the hype. The organisation, atmosphere, on course support and marshalls were just exceptional.
It's a demanding course that demands respect but when I wasn't grimacing I was glorying in the tremendous scenery.
I'll be back next year most definitely

In short: 4th time I've run this and it gets better and better! Not flat by any means but finally managed to beat a 4 year PB! Brilliant organisation with touches you'd expect if you were a VIP! Great value and a must do race....
