In short: Hilly course but faster than it first appears
In full: The uphill and congested start was an initial problem however there seems no real alternative.
Terrain either uphill (plenty) or downhill (three short stretches) but none 'on the flat'. Despite the undulations, surprised that it gave a relatively quick time.
Medal was a bit disappointing (nothing to identify race or even ribbon) & perhaps better without a memento. Awaiting update to website (5 days after race) for results.

In short: A good mid-week 10k
In full: A good mid-week 10k around Clayton, near Newcastle, found the HQ to register no problem at all, heard a lot of people chuntering about it being a 2 loop course but I dont mind that as at least you know what you are in for next time around !
Could do with a water stop half way round as it was hot, Good course tho up as much as down and fitness prevailling I shall be back next year !!!

In short: Good 2 lap course, great stewards and organisation.
In full: Great course through Clayton, has PB potential but nailed on, I achieved a new one at 44:43 so very pleased, it was humid and the last 1k was all into the wind, although not strong did make a bit of a difference.
The course is undulating with a couple of long drags, but nothing too severe.
Marshalls did an excellent job ably assisted by members of the local special constabulary especially when we had to turn right across the traffic into the finishing straight, no messing everything came to a halt, the traffic that is.
First time but not the last I think.

In short: Pleasant small local race with no frills, and all the better for it.
In full: Decided to enter this local race at the last minute, and was pleased that I did. 7pm start meant that temperature had dropped so was much more race friendly than I was expecting. No frills event which ran like clockwork.Congratulations to organisers. I did find it tougher than I had expected:I think I set of too fast, and suffered over the last couple of miles. I will be doing this one next year.
