In short: Great marshalls helpful organiser!
In full: Very hilly but a good one.
Marshalls were friendly & cheerful.
Plenty of encouragement for the slower runners. Great glass memento, beautiful.
Not very scenic, but still enjoyed it.

In short: Good way to kick 2009 off
In full: A friendly, well organised race with an excellent laser engraved glass plaque to celebrate Halifax Harriers 125th year.
Long uphill stretch at around half way (with the forst few hundred metres especially steep) makes a PB difficult but does present a challenge to you!

Only thing to be aware of is that as most of race follows main roads, and is on - sometimes - narrow pavements, overtaking can mean stepping into the road which could cause some issues although roads are wide enough to share with cars without problemns

In short: An excellent start to the new year
In full: A challenging course, yet the gradients are stable rather than undulating, so it's not as bad as it good be. A 2K swoop down to Brighouse. 3K of gentle climbing up the valley to Bailiff Bridge. Then the killer hill. It starts off very steeply, then eases off - about 3K in all, so it's best to get stuck in, then the gradient gradually reduces, before your heart pops and the legs revert to Christmas pudding. The final 2K is a rolling/downhill to the finish. Great for picking up speed again.

Organisation was v. good. Nice prompt results service and photographs on the web site. A nice map of the course with places to park shown on it. Good race venue in a school with parking/toilets/refreshments/gear. Started (just about) on time (was only just above freezing, so hanging around was not too much fun).

The roads can be a bit tricky, with lots of side turnings up the main Bradford/Brighouse road with still sleepy Muggles emerging for their Sunday papers and not prepared for a load of runners crossing in front of them. So caution is needed.

The challenging terrain means that a PB would not be likely - but, then again, it gives you an excuse for a slower than usual time, without feeling too bad about it - nice, just after Christmas and at the start of the year.

Lots of prizes - and some random ones, so worth staying to the end.

Really enjoyed it, and the atmosphere was good - a wide range of abilities/ages in a field of just over 300. A great start to the year.

In short: Challenging morning out!
In full: Well organised race put on by Halifax Harriers with some playful ups and downs, especially Wakefield Road. Some of the drivers in Brighouse seem a trifle impatient though, what do they know that we don't early on a Sunday morning? :-)
